0.5 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', best before December 2024. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, a bit grassy aroma of grains, some straw and a touch of iron. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently dry taste of grains, some straw and hints of iron, followed by a short, gently bitter, quite dry and watery finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Like sex in a canoe.

Aldersbacher Freiherrn Pils, Fläschchen von REWE Wolf, BID. - Goldgelb, blank. (5.3.2024.)

Bottle picked up from Edeka, Passau and consumed at home Friday 23rd February 2024 listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music. We're about to cook Chicken Jalfrezi shortly with Poppadoms and Aubergine Pickle. Read Weizen Slayers review below with great interest, so sad to lose such an historic brewery relatively recently. I never got to try this beer brewed at the original brewery so cannot comment on whether this is a good interpretation of the original recipe or not, Howe I do like Aldersbacher so I hope that they've done a good job. Okay onto the beer, it pours gold, mid gold, pleasant and sprightly hoppy nose, this is a decent hoppy Helles, nice mouthfeel, spritzy carbonation. Surprised by this, it's quite different I would like to think that this is a very good interpretation of the original beer. Just to continue, dry finish, a little furry bitter rub across the tongue, sweetness and maltiness take a backseat. Really nice Helles.

Can from the Costco advent calendar. Poured a golden color with a medium-small white head. Aroma was light sweet malts, biscuit, some grassy notes. Flavor was light sweet grains, with grassy hops, and some floral notes.

50cl can from the Costco advent box. Pours a clear gold with some frothy white head that faded fast. Nose is huge with honey. Compared to the others I tried tonight, I'll take it. A little pineapple and maybe some noble hop lurking. Flavor is OK. Grist is clear. Dough. Honey. Flower petals. Off dry finish, lightly creamy.
