Description
Welcome to the Hackney Church Brew Co. We are a new brewpub based in the heart of Hackney, named after the parish church over the road. Like the church, we want to create a welcoming space that everyone can enjoy that gives back to the local community.
We serve our own tasty beers alongside delicious food in our taproom and sunny garden. In our book, that’s beer for all sorts.

Bottle at home in Hackney in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours black-brown with a staunch, foamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour, nice creamy chocolate character, toasted caramel, subtle roasty bitterness. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth in the finish, more tasty chocolate, mild ashy roast. Drinks very smoothly.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the brewery. Pours clear yellow-gold with a fading, foamy white head. Light citric notes, very mild acidity, some flinty dryness, a little hay, wheat flakes. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly drying finish, more hay, lemony impressions, flinty minerality. Pretty ho hum.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from the brewery. Pours deep brown-black with a dense, creamy beige head. Moderately sweet, lots of rich dark mats, bittersweet chocolate, ash, dark fruits, earth, espresso. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, further ashy roast, scorched earth, baking cocoa, fresh coffee. This one grew on me. It’s a lovely showcase of dark malts. Great stuff.

Keg at the brewery tap. Pours hazy orange-gold with a tight, creamy, pure white head. Nice overall, with crispy wheat flakes, subtle yeast, lemon peel, a little peach, straw. Light bodied with average carbonation. Light minerality in the finish, more crispy wheat bread and citrus accents. Adequate.
