Bottle shared at chriso’s Easter 2015 tasting - London. Thanks to Col for this one. Pours oily black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds dark fruits, ash and cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with touches of metal, bitter cocoa, ash, leathery dark fruits. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with more chocolate and leather. OK.

12oz bottle with 11/11/14 on it. Pours a viscous black with tons of voluminous, frothy, brown head. Nose has licorice, molasses, tree bark, something a bit funny like some dusty couch, stale grains, some plum. Flavor is sweet, lightly nutty, cola, molasses, some burnt bread, burnt caramel, something a bit artificial like grape soda. Full, sweet, spritzy finish. A bit messy and doubtful it will improve with age.

Looks good at pour. Glows orange in the glass, a touch hazy, medium khaki head. Restrained hop nose is piney. Flavors are weird. Strong hop resins, grass and pine, acrid sickly sweet grainy malts, burning alcohol finish. I guess the rye is the source of the strong graininess, but I don’t understand the weird sweet-heavy palate and I guess I’m not a fan of the spicy resiny Zythos hop.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at Wine & Cheese, If You Please? on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Bottled 2 24 14, I realized after I got home. The pour is a mostly clear golden with a 1/2 inch white head. The aroma is clove, Saison yeast and herbal. The taste is the herbal clove, malt and a general spice yeast. Bit of sweetness towards the back. The palate is medium to heavier bodied with soft to low carbonation with the herbal finish. Decent, I am sure it is better fresh.

12oz bottle, brought back from Florida. Poured a dark orange color with a small very light off-white head. Aroma was lots of caramel malts, with some light fruit, touch of the tropics. Flavor had some light bitter hop notes, with a lot of sweet malts.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy dark brown head that faded and left minimal lacing. The flavor was roasty, licorice, floral and fruity hops. The flavor was bitter, roasty and malty with a hint of anise and moderate floral hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

750ml bottle pours a murky brown with some cloudy, off white head. Nose has almond skins and brown sugar, yeast, malt. Flavor has slick oily nut, brown sugar, lightly cakey, candy sugar. Full bodied, sticky finish.
