Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.

We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!

Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!

Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

From notes take while having it on tap at the brewery. Aroma had lots of peach to it, more so as it warms. A solid, pale cracker malt backbone. Faint tropical and stone fruit notes. Pours a very cloudy, pale yellow gold with a small white head. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor had a noticeable pale cracker malt backbone with moderate peach character. Medium, slightly harsh bitterness. Light hop flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, it’s better as it warms and more peach comes out. Solid base malt character. The hops were rather minimal and the bitterness was a bit harsh. Not the best Cellarmaker beer.

The beer is a pale yellow color, almost beige. Very cloudy. Looks kinda heavy and dull. Bar pour but the head looks normal in size. It’s white with small bubbles, good lacing. Peaches are really apparent in the aroma. It’s a sorta odd and very fresh flavor. Not really jammy, maybe light flashes. Fruity in a floral sort of way. I’m not sure that the citrus forward hops are the best pairing. They show up with oranges and grapefruit plus some grass. There’s a kinda buttery quality but not in a diacetyl. More like fresh butter. Odd. Taste is a bit less exciting. The peaches are milder and the citrus pith kinda takes over. There’s nice citrus flavor but a bit of bland bitterness too. I think there’s more peach flavor in there. It’s just crowded out. The feel has some fruit juice to it. Moderate bitterness. Pretty light on the palate. Kinda creamy. Peach and grapefruit peel finish. Again, sorta odd. All that said, I really like the experimentation and I hope they do more.

From notes. The beer is a pale golden yellow. It’s quite cloudy. Medium sized head of small white bubbles. Good amount of lacing. The aroma has a whole bunch of pineapple, tangerine and mango. A little bit of grass, lime and pepper gives the hops a pleasantly sharp edge. A little mango and floral sweetness. Good stuff. Taste is dry and bright. Fresh hop flavor. Light but refreshing bitterness. Maybe some wheat or something in the grain. Very easy to drink. Finish is tangerine peel, pepper and lime. Very light feel. A touch of hop oiliness. Excellent pale ale. Very drinkable.

Cask. Pours a darkened orangey amber color with a small white head. Just a thin layer of fine bubbles that recedes to a ring after a minute. It’s quite cloudy, just a glass of color. The aroma is fruity and sweet with hops. White grape, peach, pineapple, mango, tangerine. I feel like my lists of fruits are getting a bit silly. Lots of nice stuff going on, though. Very juicy. No off flavors. Mild sweet malt character. Taste is chock full of the same ultra juicy fruit hop flavor. Sweet with hop flavor but not too much malt sweetness really. Smooth feel. Lots of hop oil apparent. Extremely tasty beer.

Pours a relatively pale golden color. It’s pretty hazy, though I can sorta see my fingers through the glass. Medium-sized white head. The aroma is huge and dank with lots of hop flavor. Lots of Nelson Sauvin fruitiness. Big on white grapes, vinous. Some tangerine and pineapple. Pine, peach, grass, pepper, raspberry. Not much malt character. Maybe a little sweet dough in the background. Taste starts off with some simple malt sweetness backing fruity hop flavors. White grapes, pineapple, pine, grapefruit. Medium bitterness. Finish is grass, citrus rind, pepper and a lingering sweet grape note. Fairly dry for the abv. Normal carbonation, feels a touch lower than their lighter beers but I think it’s just the bigger body. Full feel. Good hop oiliness. Still, it’s pretty light on the palate for the strength. Good stuff. Probably my favorite DIPA from Cellarmaker, so far.

Cask. The beer is dull amber gold with just some random bubbles posing as a head. Sorta cloudy. Nice aroma but I’m not liking it as much as the normal version. The mango sweetness pops in and gives a nice fruity aroma but gets lost in the taste. Mint is mild in aroma but gives a little toothpaste note in the taste. It seems significantly more bitter than the normal version. Solid hop flavor but the bitterness actually gets a bit bland which is definitely not the case for the normal version. Also, there’s essentially zero carbonation. I’ve had a few cask beers at Cellarmaker and this one is significantly less carbonated than the others. Less carbonation then beer straight from the fermenter. A bit too much body to it without the bubbles. The sugar just seems a bit stickier. Not my favorite.
