Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.

We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!

Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!

Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

The beer is quite pale, light yellow and fairly clear. Appears to have a medium sized white head. A bit fizzy. The aroma is mild. There’s some sweet fruit and honey-ish malt. Light citrus and pineapple, a little mango. Quite dry. Moderate bitterness. Very crisp. Refreshing but not a ton of flavor. The funk is present but again mild. The brett is neutral, though I would expect the character to pick up with time. Carbonation is on the high side. Very light on the palate. Decent but a touch boring. I’l revisit this review later. Beertender got significantly better after a couple weeks. Edit: Rerated based on new batch.

The beer is a nice bright gold. It’s perfectly transparent or near enough. Medium-sized head, white with lots of fine bubbles. The aroma is a pretty standard mix of citrus and tropical flavors with a danker edge and more sugariness than their normal wheelhouse. There’s a cotton candy sweetness to the malt flavor. Pine, lemon, pineapple, mango, tangerine. I’ll go back on my previous comment a bit; it’s a bit lighter on the citrus than most of their hoppy stuff. Tends more toward dank and musky fruitiness. Taste is sweeter than expected. Moderate booze. A bit of bland bitterness. This isn’t really my favorite hop combination. It’s resiny and heavy. Seems to lack the brighter highlights. Carbonation seems normal. Feel is pretty full. A bit sticky. Nice hop oiliness. I put a lot of blame/credit on Cellarmaker, but my taste has been trending away from DIPAs to lighter hoppy fare. That said, this is still quite tasty. It’s just a bit too sweet and abrasive and uses a combination of hop notes that I’m not loving entirely. Edit: New batch in bottles. I like this batch a bit better. Still, it wouldn’t have been my choice for their first bottled hoppy beer.

Aroma is dominated by nice coffee with some good chocolate and roast character. Some light nuttiness with some faint smoke. Little yeast character, only some faint dark fruit esters. Pours black with some brown highlights and a small, moderately thick tan head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Flavor is rather chocolate forward with some light roast and medium light sweetness. Lots of coffee character with a nice espresso note. Some light nuttiness with some faint dark fruit notes, mostly plum. Really light smoke character with moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly sticky with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really great porter with some great coffee character and light smoke notes. I really expected more smoke, but am glad that wasn’t the case. This beer is delicious.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma has a nice medium light cracker malt notes with some white bread and biscuit notes. Fairly hop forward with some nice citrus and tropical fruit notes. Hints of melon and grapes as well. Lots of pineapple and tangerine. Pours a fairly clear, golden color with a small white head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor has a light cracker malt note with faint biscuit and graham cracker notes. Moderate bitterness with a ton of hop character. Lots of tropical fruit including pineapple and mango. Quite a bit of citrus notes, more orange and tangerine than grapefruit. Some light melon and stone fruit adds more complexity. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a rather amazing, very happy pale ale. Cellarmaker can do no wrong when it cones to hoppy beers. Great hop character with moderate bitterness and a nice malt backbone. I could drink this beer all day every day.

Shared with gmellison. Hazy yellow appearance with a white head, juicy, spicy, grapefruit hops in the nose. A little doughy. Cracker. Lots of grapefruit and lemon. Dry. Drinks good.

Bright orange. Insanely cloudy. Peachy with kiwi and a grape aroma. That great mineral water mouthfeel. Crisp like a sofa water. Mild darkness. Ginger snap and orange peel.

Pitch black. Super creamy effervescent head coffee with vanilla and chalky chocolate. Creamy. Very sweet. Hearty body but still pretty oily. Finish is very sweet from the lacto but I really like this.

Super hazy golden orange. Creamy head fades fast. Smells like the freshest fruit. So fruity and juicy and full of pineapple and mango. So the 100% galaxy does make this a bit to medicinal but fruit up front and cough drop finish.

Hazy yellow 1 finger cream head. Smells like lemon peel and sweet fruits. Lemony peel and banana and clove and some interesting fruit herbal medicinal finish. Falls short at the end.
