Description
Fonta Flora Brewery integrates the soul of agriculture with the artisanship of zymurgy to create a menagerie of rustic and savory libations. With an emphasis on seasonal flora, Fonta Flora brings English tradition and Belgian inspiration to the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina.
Fonta Flora utilizes local artists to help conceptualize the notion that fermentation is yet another medium for creating art. This uniquely artisan approach to beer yields a sustainable product filled with culture from our very own community.

Approachable 375ml bottle from Appalachian. Flute @home with some sparkling wine. Eventually it works it's way into a mojito glass. Hazy, faded dull plum, frothy pour. Jammy, grassy, bittersharp, aged hop nose. Bittersweet raspberries, veggie, lemon oil, sour plum, big acid over a jammy toast middle. Kinda tannic & faintly earthy finish. Extra frothy, a touch boozy, a little of oxidation, more as it warms. Good+.

Single from Appalachian. Pint glass @home. Hazy iced tea, frothy brew. Sharp, astringent muscadine & cherry with a little bitter chem. Twangy muscadine, cherry skin, tangerine, yogurt, leafy green, tea, lemon-lime sour, itchy malt, light earth. Candy watermelon finish. Medium low carb, super sharp, plenty of acid, bit of oxidation, sulfites. My teeth hurt.

16oz can from Tavour. Cloudy golden pour, ring of head, streaky lacing. Aroma is caramel, oranges, light floral notes. Taste is malty, sweet, toffee, citrus, minor piney and dank aspects, resinous. For the amount of hops in this, it still has a very malty profile. Sticky, dry, mouth coating.

Just not my bag, brah. Heavily spiced, to the point the nutmeg and allspice cling to the palate long, long after the swig is gone. Never been a fan of spice bombs, and that’s what we have here. The amber ale is completely lost.

Month old pint can A: Clear pale yellow with a short white frothy head. Short retention. S: Lemon lime citrus and grassy, oniony hop notes with toasty malt. T: Follows the nose. Sharp citrus flavor with grassy hops and dry toasty malts. M: Light, dry and spritzy, finishing clean. O: Good citra hop showcase. I like it.

Pounder from Appalachian. 08/09/23, my fault for letting it sit in the fridge for a couple months. Pint glass @home. Clear, light copper, syrupy lux, lingering froth. Banana & plain Cheerios, dried fruit nose. Phenolic, Honey Nut, extra toasty crust, weak black pepper, cream, menthol, veggy astringent finish. Smooth more so than crispy, pushy carb, leaning dry, a touch too heavy. Good to good+.
