Sample at the tap room. The beer pours a murky pale orange color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Sticky partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, fruit and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of grassy yeast, tropical fruit and malt. The finish is fruity with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at BPP. Dim gold color. I feel like this is a wheaty, berliner Weiss type of beer. It’s much better than the first iteration of this series. But still husky malts and a not so interesting lactose character. Though this one does have a bit of a long lasting sour kick at the end. Decent, ok, won’t return but not mad at it.

Draft pour at Chuck’s for their 6th anniversary. Went for a long run that ended here, so I’m happy to accidentally be a part of the party. Good beer place celebrating a good beer achievement with good beer. Can’t complain. Pours a near black with an active fizz head. Mild smokey malt aroma. Flavor is gentle smoke, creamy body, roasted malt, and a smooth finish. Quite tasty for sure.

Draft 12 oz pour at Stoup. Missed the party, but will give my congrats anyway. Pours a near black with an almost yellow head. No joke. Soft chocolate like aroma. Flavor is milk chocolate, semi sweet. Malt mild finish. Overall an excellent execution of the style. Loved it.

Draft 12 oz pour at the Pine Box. I just assume that a spur that is good enough for Pine Box is good enough for me. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, I want to thank the Pine Box for constantly being the place I can count on for fun, new sour beer. Pours a bright orange color with a big bubble head. Aroma consistent with sour berry and fruit. Flavor is jammy, with sour berry, and apricot maybe? Refreshing cool finish. Love the beer. Next step, add Stoup sour #2 and 3, and try/rate them. Awesome stuff.

Draft pour pint at Toronado Seattle. Rating #1995. Starting to get to the years that I can actually remember now. I believe I started 1st grade that year. Reddish brown pour with a thick coat of foam head and lace. Mellow malty aroma. Flavor is a dry malt up front, with a creamy finish. Very easy mellow winter warmer. Good flavor. Good beer.

Draft pour pint at The Collective. Pours black with a full coast of foam head and lace. Rating #1943, the same year the world was introduced to Frank Sinatra. Big piney hop aroma. Flavor is a good roasted malt, paired very nicely with the pine hops. Toast flavor finish. Very unique, and well executed beer. Standout for the style for sure.

Draft pour pint at the 192 lake trail taproom. Listed as Stoup Galaxy IPA. Clear copper color with a high fizz and sticky lace. Sweet tropical fruit hopped aroma. Slightly bitter up front, but completes with a sweet dominant tropical fruit headliner. Still love the galaxy hops. Overall a solid IPA. Final thought: what the hell is a stoup anyway? Update: Google knew.

Draught at the brewery, 11/7/15.
Milk chocolate to ebony body is of undetermined clarity, but assumedly bright, with a light tan head atop that shows moderate retention.
Baker’s chocolate, light fudge, a touch of banana-tinted vanilla and moderate fruitiness (plums, raisins and prunes). No alcohol noted in the nose, nor flaws.
Chewy yet dry with moderate carbonation and plentiful baker’s chocolate notes. Great attenuation, yet still with some residual sweetness to balance the not-overbearing roastiness. Light prune and plum suggestions, with vanilla and fudge chewiness on the finish. Really nice stuff, on the dry side but still has plenty of body. Good complexity, not overdone on any one aspect.
