Chelmsford Beer Festival. Cask. Almost a clear gold beer, bubbly off white head. Palate is light and dry with modest fine carbonation. Light malts. Trace of apple. Mellow strawberry that gets a little stronger before a light semi dry finish. Pretty mild fruit beer, but it goes down easy.

Clear amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and has a fine crispness. Malts are light and smooth but rich in flavour. Light malt cream, little caramel. Something like very mild cinnamon. Moderately bitter floralness. Mild marmalade. Trace of lemon. A light mildly bitter finish. Tasty and drinkable and better than it was on cask. Mild bitter linger. Wonder what this hop was?

Colchester Beer Festival at the Colchester Arts Centre. Cask. Clear dark brown beer, tidy bubbly tan head. Palate is semi dry with modest fine carbonation. Fairly thin feeling dark malts but they bring richness and roast. Trace of dry cream. A molasses like tang before some fairly harsh bitterness kicks in. Trace of something fruity. Semi dry finish. Bitter linger. A pretty robust mild but it’s clean and comes together quite well.

Gravity cask at Elysian Winter Beer Festival 2015. Dark brown, translucent. Nice head from natural carbonation. Light aroma, bit of crystal malt and toast. While the hop may be absent in the aroma, it is abundant in the taste: bittersweet citrus with a bit of coffee and grass. Very bitterly hopped finish and aftertaste. Grows on me.

Lightly hazy paleish gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and airy. Thin but clean pale malts, very mild sweetness. Light floralness, turning dry. Decent pithy grapefruit hops, lesser orange, not too strong or bitter. Crisp dry finish. Nicely joined up, clean and refreshing.
