Description
Leroy Het Sas : The original brewery "Het Sas", later Brouwerij Leroy, established in Boezinge in 1572; destroyed in the First World War and rebuilt in 1924. Named after a lock ('sas' in Dutch) in the nearby canal. Cooperating with Van Eecke (Leroy Breweries Watou) since 1962. Both breweries merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016.
Leroy Watou : Established as a castle brewery for the count of Watou in 1624 and also known formerly as Brouwerij De Gouden Leeuw. Has long been connected to Leroy in Boezinge through family ties, with both breweries cooperating since 1962. They merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016; the Watou branch now does all the actual brewing (while Boezinge handles conditioning and bottling).
From the website:

Perfumed and citrus aroma. Very transparent, rocky head. Sweet and flowery (lavender) not as much lemony sourness as usual. A bit watery.

[Keg] Hazy dark amber color. Some malt and caramel aroma. Pretty good body structure, pretty sweet, but with a metallic note. Lacking some better hop character.

A light brown beer with no head. The aroma is an OK fruity ale aroma. But the flavor is much more powerful, with a nice sweetness of a great maltblend and with only a slight bitterness. A really good beer - next time I don''t want to share it.

Bronze colour. Huge impressive head that seems to stay forever. Yeasty citrus-aroma. A very dry beer. Lots of grapefruit and orange zest flavour. Very drinkable. It''s impossible to tell the strength by the taste. I''m feeling dizzy :o)

Orange-amber colour, creamy head, fine perlage. Very nice and strong aroma, malt, hop; fruity; caramel, similar to barley wines! Full mouth, smooth; sweet in the front, malty, hint of a baley wine, then correctly balanced by a good aromatic hop, for a long palate, quite sweet.

Hazy amber color. Vegetables and paper aroma, stock. Boring flavor, some vegetables too, dry, with low bitterness. Not very good.

Orange/amber misty ale.
Wonderful, deep, pure hop aroma; then the aroma evidentiates some sweeter and honeyish notes.
Smooth, a pleasure to drink, pretty sweet, malty, hoppy, good body, fresh. Good palate too, not too long.
Classified as Cat. I, the best in its category.
One Belgian to try!

Blond lager, beautiful head. Nice fresh aroma of hop. Good body, good mix of malt and hop, quite dry, good hop character in the finish, not too much aromatic. Pleasant, strong version of lager beers, bottle conditioned.
