Description
Leroy Het Sas : The original brewery "Het Sas", later Brouwerij Leroy, established in Boezinge in 1572; destroyed in the First World War and rebuilt in 1924. Named after a lock ('sas' in Dutch) in the nearby canal. Cooperating with Van Eecke (Leroy Breweries Watou) since 1962. Both breweries merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016.
Leroy Watou : Established as a castle brewery for the count of Watou in 1624 and also known formerly as Brouwerij De Gouden Leeuw. Has long been connected to Leroy in Boezinge through family ties, with both breweries cooperating since 1962. They merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016; the Watou branch now does all the actual brewing (while Boezinge handles conditioning and bottling).
From the website:

Pours a mahogony brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, spices. Flavour is malty sweetness, brown sugar, raisins. Some spicy bitterness in the finish. Enjoyed this one, for me a bit above the average Dubbel.

Pours a hazy pale amber with a big frothy off-white head. Aroma of malts, yeast, ripe fruits, plenty of spices, candy sugar, hops. Flavour is malty sweetness with a very nice hopbitterness in the aftertaste. Not much of an Abt/Quad but an excellent heavy Tripel.

Rather typical Belgian Blonde aroma of fruits, yeast, spices and some hops. Flavour is yeasty, fruity, medium sweetness. A decent example of the style.

Bottiglia.

Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, raisins, slight dark fruits, some liquorice. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet with a light to moderate bittersweet finish. Just to sweet and uninteresting to me.

As "Witte Maan" at Café De Heks, Deventer. Aroma of citrus, lemon, slightly spicy yeast, wheat. Flavour is moderate sweet with a light bitter finish. Ordinary and thinnish, but refreshing. Rerate as "Watou’s Wit Bier": Same notes. Bready and a bit watery. Okay.

Aroma of fruits, yeast, citrus, grass, floral notes, hoppy notes. Aroma is light sweet with a moderate bitter finish. A Belgian classic. Surprised it’s still quite hoppy after almost two years of aging.

Bottle at home. Aroma of dark malt, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, brown sugar, some roasted notes, some chocolate. Flavour is sweet with a light bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Rich and sweet, pretty enjoyable. More or less seems to be a stronger version of the Dubbel, which I had before this one.
