Description

Very pale and hazy with light, soapy head. Fresh sharp flavour with an apple like acidity and a sticky sweet finish.

Served lightly chilled in a trappist glass at the Belgian Beer Fair in Oslo. Hazy amber body under a creamy, persistent white head. Aroma is a mixed bag of grassy hops and coriander. Decent spicy hop character with tart citric fruits coming through at the ending. Dry palate but rather fizzy carbonation (10.04.2008).

Unclear, dark amber body holding a huge rocky, beige tophead. Slightly roasted aroma with malts and spicies. Rich in flavour with elements such as brown sugar, earthy malts supported by berries and tart fruits. Full palate. One of my highlights at the Belgian Beer Fair in Oslo 10.04.2008.

Sampled from a bottle with the name Keyte Oosténdse Tripel (7,7% ABV). Creamy head. Light hazy, orange body. Sweet hoppy aroma leads the way to a very sweet flavour of late fruits and dry chocolate added a nutty hint. Almost a sugarbomb to my tasting (BBF, Oslo 10.04.2008).

250ml bottle. Pale golden, slightly dim body with a medium dense white heat, fast disappearing. Aroma is fruity, sweetish, citrus, yeast, spices and banana. Flavor is sourish, refreshing and fruity with some hops. Refreshing and somehow interesting, but not outstanding.

If it hadn’t been for Bontus’ rating, I’d remained in profound belief that this beer had been shelved for the longest time. Well, it’s still very much around, but apart from my deepest cellar shelf, I hadn’t seen it around. Only problem, the shelf-sample had been purchased in 1985... Disparate yellowish head, over red-brown ale. Fusels & esters nose, a touch of vinegar on wood, nuts. Pretty severe Oud Bruin nose. Sweet-sour in good balance, madeirisation outspoken, bit of acetic acid, but only a hint; tannines, however abound. Vestiges of a rich Oud bruin flavour that was once quite complex. Very watery body, because of its age, and the acids’ thinning. When this bottle was young, I thought "Dobbelken" one of, if not outright the best from Strubbe. This one is aged a tad too much, and I’ll be on the lookout for a reratable sample. It’s still quite interesting, though.

On tap at YNWA, Kolding. A hazy, almost clear, orange-yellow beer with a white head. Sweetish, fruity and lighlty spiced nose with orange. Lots of orange in the flavor, with some wheat as well. Orange in the finish too, as well as some hops. Medium body. Sure quenching. Rating: 6-3-6-3-12-3. (080229)

Bottle. Pours a quite clear, pale yellowish body with a white head. Nice fruity nose with some banana and spices. Fruity and slightly sweet flavor with a touch of cellar. Medium body. Easy to drink, quenching and a little bit boring. (080314)

Bottle: Poured a golden color with white head. Aroma is grapefruit with some piney like hops. The taste sticks to that grape fruit taste with some metallic bite of hops to it.

Bottle Clear, amber body. Off-white head. Disgusting aroma of root chicory, sewer, smoke, anise, old stuff, wet cardboard, wet dog, ... Moderately bitter, lightly sour initial flavour. Lightly sour, dry finish. Oxidised finish? Very unbalanced beer. Not too bad, but certainly not complex nor attractive.
