Oh Lord, glad I saw the abv before I cashed it. It's deliciously smooth, you can tell the abv cause it cleans off a layer of your skin in your mouth, but otherwise so smooth. Chocolatey heaven.

Bottle from the brewery - dark amber pour - no head - cloyingly sweet - a lot of dark fruit and treacle - boozy - sherry - whisky - messy and hot, and will probably give me diabetes - but I paid 18 bucks for the bottle, so I will spend the next two hours choking it down.

6 ounce at the Washington Street location - certainly does deliver what is promised - loads of blueberry in the nose and flavor - distinctly Belgian waffle sweetness - these qualities lead, but a gentle tartness develops through the middle before a spicy finish - blueberry lingers throughout - I enjoy this a lot more than I thought I would.

Tap at the Washington Street location - black pour - soapy lace - nose is initially bright and fruity, but has underlying notes of treacle, sweetbreads, brined cocktail cherries - well-masked alcohol, creamy texture - caramelized sugars, dark fruit, treacle, candied cherry, sweet vinousness, warming booziness - overall impression is slightly like a Manhattan cocktail, actually, and I dig Manhattans.

Tap at Washington Street location - 2023 edition, listed at 14.8% - inky black with a moderate dark tan lace - aged in Spirit Hound Whiskey barrels - nose is heavy with the spirit, moderate oxidation , mild oak - slick mouthfeel - extraordinarily smooth for the strength and time in barrels - lots of chocolate and whiskey - dark fruit, caramelized sugars - warming whiskey finish - mostly bourbon and chocolate flavors, so perhaps not super complex, but the depth of those two flavors is wonderful and the finish is deep and warming - really dig it.

2023 bottle from the brewery - aged in CO Rye Whiskey barrels from Spirit Hound Distillery - 14.8% abv - turbid amber pour - headless - though it pours fizzy at first, is appears still and feels mostly so in the mouth - nose of rye, treacle, brown sugar, oak, vanilla, sherry/oxidation - flavor is heavy on whiskey, treacle, dark fruit, tamarind, spicy rye, oak, vanilla - finish is really warming and spicy - quite a complex sipper, and a big improvement over the base beer.

Bottle from Tavour. Ddark brown pour, thin beige head. Aroma brings roasty malts and bourbon, chocolate, anise. Taste is a smooth concoction of roast, chocolate, barrel, raisins and licorice. Nice warm feel will give you a glow.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours darkish ruddy amber with a decent beige head. Caramel aroma with some fruit notes. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is caramel/toffee with pale stone fruit notes - not dry, but avoids sticky. Heat is present. There's a compensating bitterness from something. Somehow slightly harsh.
