375ml bottle from the brewery - lightly hazy purple pour - nose of nutmeg, cinnamon, baked apples - actually smells a lot like apple pie (crust and all) - a little flat in the mouth - medium sweet, with moderate wintery spiciness, overripe apple, light plum, lightly spicy Belgian yeast - finish has a light doughy Christmas cookie character - lingering spiciness in the finish.

Capped 375 from Tavour. Pours clear dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of roasty malt with a hint of rye. Full bodied. Flavor of roasty malt with moderate heat, rye notes and some wood astringency. Not dry, but not obnoxiously sweet. Rye, heat and wood help combat the evil malt. Well, perhaps that's a bit harsh on the malt. Can't have barleywine without it. Very good flavor.

Capped 375 from Tavour at 13.4%. Pours hazy brown with a transient beige head. Aroma is something toffeeish with heat and dark fruit notes. Arguably full bodied. Flavor starts with toffeeish malt, then a fair amount of heat, some whiskey, raisins and perhaps figs. It's malty but not sweet. Wood becomes quite noticeable in the finish. Astringent - helps the heat to keep down the malt.

12 ounce can from Tavour. Lightly hazed, amber orange pour. Small beige head dissipates to a small ring. Musty, bready malt aroma. Flavor is thin and malty. Some booziness and spicy hops. A bit on the dry side.

12 oz. can. Aroma is roasted grain, old milk chocolate with a bold amount of coffee. The large coffee influence follows through in the flavor with the aforementioned nuances. Pretty good mouth feel with hidden alcohol. Mild warming after the sip. Well constructed.

Can from Tavour. Pours amber with a creamy beige/tan head. Aroma is toasty with grass/spice notes. Med body or better. Arguably towards dry, but also not. LIghtly bitter with grass/spice subduing toasty malt. Crisp and clean. Good drink.
