Bottle from Tavour. Dark amber pour, small bubbly head. Aroma is caramel , brown sugar and plenty of booze. Taste is sweet, molasses, whiskey, malty, caramel. Very, very strong with a syrupy feel. Definite sipper

Bottle from Tavour. Pours rather opaque dark brown with a slight, transient tan smear/head. Aroma is quite malty in a dark German way. Full in body. It's not dry. It's somewhat bitter along with heat to balance the malt. The flavor is like a toffee with some floral/grass notes. It's very subtle, and I seem to lack parsing ability here. It's just really, really good ale.

12.7 oz bottle. Aroma is packed with coffee, some nuttiness, wet stone. Pours dark brown to black with a thin collapsing beige head. Taste is bittersweet and roasty with a shit-ton of coffee flavor, some faint dried fruit.

33 cL bottle. Pours a hazy, orange color, with a big, foamy, tan head. The aroma is orange peel, grains of paradise, caramel, cloves, and mild juniper. Sweet and citrusy, with a mild, zesty bitterness. Light to medium body, grainy, and chewy. Bright, tasty, and on-style.

Bottle from the brewery - this is around the time of year I really start jonesing for some barleywine - and for some reasons in Colorado, the shit just doesn’t show up until March for some reason - not a single fucking barleywine in my local bottle shops - not even Bigfoot - so when I saw this at the brewery today I was like, fuck it; I’m desperate - even though I know River North, despite their prowess at high abv beers, can never seem to get barleywine right - anyway, this one pours turbid amber - minimal lace - some earthy malt and wheat - but of brined cherry - some oxidation and sherry notes - light oak and whiskey - finish is a little hot - lingering spicy oak - a little rough around the edges, but one of their better attempts.

Bottle picked up from the brewery - clear amber - no head / doesn’t present as a weizenbock at all - nose is wood, whiskey, caramelized sugars - flavor is surprisingly dry - some of the spice you’d expect from the style, lots of oak, touches of whiskey, and faint wheat and caramel - touches of dark fruit - finish is spicy, dry, oaky - would have guessed Belgian dark strong before weizenbock - crude, but not totally unenjoyable.
