375ml bottle pours out black topped with a ring of a head. Nose is not as much cinnamon as I was expecting good thing, dark roast and booze. Taste is more of the cinnamon booze dark chocolate and some spice.

375ml bottle - it’s been a while since I’ve had the original Avarice - I had forgotten it’s relative dryness as far as imperials go, and it’s really quite welcome - nose of smoke, cherry skin, red wine, with vanilla cropping up around the edges - quite dry for its strength, with smoke, tannic character, espresso, char - finishes with some tart cherry and red wine, with the vanilla just coming up in hints through the middle and finish - tasty.

Capped 375 from Tavour. Pours hazy dark brown with a few tan bubbles. Aroma of toffee and plummy fruit; brown sugar. Full bodied. Flavor is toffee, plummy fruit, kandi, and earthy, slightly musty wood. Not dry, but not at all sticky. Not exactly bitter, but there's some heat that helps in place of that. Heat is more flavor than annoyance. Excellent. Could use more plumminess, but I always think that.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with a little weed. Flavor is more pine and grapefruit with a decent pop of bitterness. Finish is all bitterness and a slight alcohol. It was ok, nothing wowed me here.

Mmmmmm dubbel, mmmmm double barrel aged, plenty of whiskey and bourbon notes, but nice dubbel body and smoothness. The nose is straight booze, but on the tongue its mostly dubbel and low booze, it's amazing.

I just relatively recently finished a rant about coffee stouts but river North stouts are just so good, thick and dark coffee niceness at room temp.
