Pours deep amber into a shaker. Offwhite head quickly recedes. Spicy caramel aromas. Very interesting spicy, sour and slightly sweet flavor which lasts through the finish.

Hazy blond colour with bright white head. Sharp hoppy aroma. Flavour is very sharp and citrusy with a prominent taste akin to a slightly oaky scrumpy.

(33cl bottle) Clear, bronze colour with a big and lacey light-beige foamy head. Sweet and fruity (cherry, overripe citrus) aroma, slightly vinous with a vague hint of toasted malt and phenolic spice (band aid). Sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied with a crispy carbonation. Initially sweet toast-malty and slightly fruity taste, getting strong spicy and moderately bitter towards the finish, drying out a bit; alcohol is evident. Lacks balance.

(33cl bottle) Dark mahogany colour with a short off-white foamy layer. Sweet and moderately roasty malty nose, slightly nutty with caramel and liquorice. Sweet-bitter, slightly sourish fruity flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderately roasty malty base with dried fruits and caramel; quite dry, Port-like malty finish with liquorice in the aftertaste. A bit uncommon, but likeable Stout.

Cloudy dark brown color; nice perlage, big head. Strong aroma, with caramel and malt, quite Belgian, mature (the bottle was in my cellar for at least one year). Medium body strength, with sweetish mouthfeel, a lot of caramel; the mouthfeel becomes drier at the end, with not much bitterness, and the warming alcohol feeling; quite boring…

(33cl bottle, courtesy of bierkoning) Hazy, copper colour with a big and persistent beige foamy head. Yeasty, moderately sweet and slightly toasty malt aroma with caramel, a tinge of liquorice, undefined spicy, herbal elements and noticeable alcohol. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, quite light bodied regarding its strength, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Toast-malty taste with caramel, raisins and spicy notes; moderately sweet, strong spicy and herbal finish. Very interesting old fashioned style, although the historical brews most probably didn´t had that strength.
