The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is light citrus and some other fruitiness. This is a rather subtle IPA. It ain’t assertively bitter or particularly hard-hitting. But the gentle citrus and the mild bitterness are both quite nice. Refreshing and easy-drinking.

Growler thanks to Shane! Pours a near clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice light tartness with a touch of lemon and a faint grain backbone. Flavor is similar with a light lemony tartness throughout that becomes a touch dry and just a hint of light grains.

Growler thanks to Shane! Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a nice grass and pine hop combination with a hint of earthy citrus and a nice light grain backbone. Flavor has more bitter, earthy pine with just a bit of grass, a hint of marijuana and backing sweet grains.

Aroma: The nose is on the light side, grains, malts, some lemon, and a little spice
Appearance: It pours a hazy yellowish color with an average sized white head
Flavor: The taste is similar, clean and malty, with some lemon and spice notes as well
Palate: The body is light-medium and it has a decent mouthfeel to it
Overall Impression: I thought this was an okay, fairly unexciting beer. It was probably the least exciting thing I tried at Peekskill, but I can certainly see this one's purpose. It's a good stable for the non-sour/hop fans that come in for a visit.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/20/13

Aroma: The aroma is a nice mix of pine hops and roasted malts, some coffee/chocolate, etc
Appearance: This beer pours a dark brown color with a thin beige head atop it
Flavor: The taste is much the same as the nose, roasted and hoppy with a nice bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a pretty nice mouthfeel, and soft-to-average carbonation
Overall Impression: I found this to be a tasty Black IPA. It wasn't the best thing I tried and the brewery, nor was it the best Black IPA that I've tried, but it was a more than decent offering. I have no complaints.

Aroma: Has a nice mix of roast and hops, some burnt malts, hoppier than I'd have guessed
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown-black color with a average sized head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, roasted malts and lots of hop bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly full, it has a fairly thick feel, and a fairly soft carbonation as well
Overall Impression: Two good breweries collaborate unsurprisingly on a good beer. This one smells and tastes more hoppy than you'd expect. Quite good. Big and tasty. Didn't exactly make me think stout. Almost, but not quite, hoppy enough to be a Black IPA. Bordering on excellent.
