Dark black coffee, deep burnt malts. Slight malty sweetness, oily mouthfeel, dry long roasty espresso finish.

Notes from 8/8/2008. Leftover beer thanks to Big Texas. Brought me plenty of styrofoam & bubble wrap to go with it too. I'm amused by simple things. :) Bottle dropped straight down into a DFH pint glass. Inch or so of Ovaltine head, a deep russet brown(but looking filtered), it appears a bit greasy. Smell is mild. A little dusty, with a little burnt toffee, hay-ish, a puff of smoke, & something a little edgy in between anise & hickory. Taste is dirty; Damp & murky. Licking newspaper off my fingers, I get some bitter chocolate, dry generic nuttiness, a quick punch of cola sweetness, & a slight bit of smoke. Finish is coffee-ishly bitter, but with a multivitamin-like itch. Feel is watery & a little tacky(like licking envelopes). Carbonation could use some more kick. As easy to drink as you want it to be. I forgive you though. The bacon pizza more then made up for this. :P

Notes from 8/14/2008. Thanks to ballewblake for the care package. One of the few review notes that I remembered to save when I last reformatted in June. The bottle notch signals that I should of drank this already(May). Though I did drink one of these earlier, it was just too humid to review anything sitting down on that sticky pleather. A: Heavy on the suds, the mound falls flat in nearly an instant. A Nestea-colored body that's just a bit too murky to see through. S: Noticeable yeast & some ethanol blow-off, followed by a fruity & slightly sour mix of orange/banana & dusty bread crust. T/M: More tangy then sour. Sharply sweet edging on something fruity, but it hits quick & dies back. Good reliable grapefruit bitterness, constant feeling of dry grain, & a sturdy amount of carbonation keep you coming back for one more deep slurp. Only negative(for me) could be a tinge of metallic flavor in the aftertaste. Probably the result of not indulging at a constant pace. :P A strait up tasty beer. :)

On tap at Rodeo Goat. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with small whtie head that lasts. The aroma is a vanilla candle and citrus. Slick body, vanilla cream, citrus, light finish, decent.
