Bottle: Poured a bright deep golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with no discernable notes of adjunct as well as any hops presence. Taste of lightly sweet malt with hints of corn syrup and no hops presence which could have provided additional depth top this beer. Body is full with a somewhat oily texture and lower then average carbonation.
Earlier Rating: 5/23/2006 Total Score: 2.4
Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color lager with a small white head with minimal retention. Aroma of weak malt with no floral or sweetness characteristic. Taste is drier then expected with some malt presence. Hops are clearly not a big part of this beer. I guess this is a good beer for people who want to make the jump from macro to micro but nothing to get me excited.

A golden lager with a thin white head. A very biscuitty malt aroma with fruity notes, and honey. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt, grainy mash tun, with nice English hops. A bit thin but overall pleasant. Bottle from LCBO Kanata.

Never got around to rating this local beer. but had it many times. Golden lager with a nice thick white head. Sweet hoppy floral aroma, and fresh malts. Very clean malt in taste with atypical floral hoppiness (though typical for Heritage), a light citrus qualities. Reminds of Cerna Hora at L’Amère a Boire.

Bright golden crystal clear coloured body with a super large and soapy (not dense) white head. Aroma of pale malt, fake sugars, light hops and cardboard - not much nice going through this. Light-bodied; Fresh malty flavour with a tiny bit of hops in the mix and very little else - nothing too pleasant. Aftertaste is pale and not pleasant, perhaps nice in a hot day, but I don’t see many of these up north. I sampled this 341 stubby small bottle purchased from the LCBO in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 08-April-2009, sampled at home, south of the border in Washington on 26-May-2009.

Brown bottle, 341 ml, purchased at the LCBO, savoured on January 5 2009; eye: copper, clear, slight effervescence, tan head that falls and turns into a tiny layer, a bit of lacing; nose: malt, smoke, light ash, slight nut; mouth: roasted, malt, smoke, good presence of hops that we guess behind those rather powerful tastes, light dust, finale in roasted malt with a good presence of hops and a slight presence of nuts, light astringency, mildly bitter, slightly harsh texture, medium body, not much carbonation; overall: surprising FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, achetée à la LCBO, savourée le 5 janvier 2009; œil : cuivrée, claire, très légère effervescence, mousse fauve qui tome et se transforme en une petite couverture, un peu de dentelle; nez : malt, fumé, léger cendré, très léger noisette; bouche : torréfaction, malt, fumé, bonne présence de houblon qu’on devine derrière des saveurs plutôt puissantes, léger poussière, finale en malt torréfié avec une bonne présence de houblon et une p’tite présence de noisette, légère astringence, moyennement amère, texture légèrement rugueuse, corps moyen, peu carbonatée; en résumé : surprenante

Slightly hazy dark amber. Slightly herbal nose is a little bit orangey. Quick palate is snappy from some tartness. Just light maltiness and vague herbal hop. Seems like it would be a decent beer but what’s with the tartness?

A golden amber bitter with a thick dissipating white head. Aroma of caramel malt and mineral notes. In mouth, lightly sweet caramel with light acidic points, raw mash, some light soft hops, rather watery bodied. Would have expected more from Heritage. Bought at LCBO.

Bottle: Poured a light beige color ale with a small foamy with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of floral malt with some light hoppy bitterness is somewhat interesting. Taste is a mix between some floral malt with a light English hops bitter touch. Full body with some average carbonation. Not very complex overall but I thought this was easily drinkable and very refreshing. I wish more North American brewers would brew bitters and mild at less then 5% alcohol.

This 2005 vintage is courtesy of gunhaver. Pours deep deep darkness with thin mocha head. The aroma is just irresistible with dark roastiness, burnt notes, some chocolate, some faint coffee, earthiness and a hint of toffee. Yum. The taste is smooth and blended with some roasted notes toward burnt, faint soy, chocolate and a mild amount of coffee. Yummy indeed. Its melded, blended and silky smooth. Very nice.

2005 bottle, kindly shared by CapFlu, thanks a lot man! Milky notes followed by a portlike aroma. Black with a brown head. Roasted start, a certain milk acidity cannot be denied, chocolate notes round it off. Full bodied, dry mouthfeel. Roasted aftertaste. Allthough the milkacid probably was not intended I actually think it adds to the complexity of the brew.
