Originally rated June 2006. This spring maple lager pours a rich golden-amber colour with a yellow-white head that disappears at a medium pace. Mild lacing all around with tiny light bubble carbonation that is steady. Sweet maple nose with a pleasant purfume of hop. Watery mouhfeel that is slightly syrupy. Beautiful sweet touch of sap that is not overly sugary. The sweetness then disappears slowly into the aftertaste. Some smokiness, but would prefer it more dominant. Overall, a nice treat for springtime and a good representation of a Canadian resource.

Originally rated December 2006. Missed it last year, and this year it is at 5.5% ABV. Written Solstice Series 2006, Winter Solstice Mooney’s Bay. Pours a clean rich copper colour with a slight red hue. Off-white (almost pink) creamy head dissipates at a decent pace, and leaves nice dirty lacing all around. A surface of foam stays on the brew (the whole time). Very lightly carbonated. Aromas of roasted malts and the fruit is lightly hidden in the background. Creamy mouthfeel. The taste is sweet, but not overly, with a nice bitter finish. Both blend well in the aftertaste. I cannot stop thinking about grapefruits, as this is the fruit I smell and taste. I guess it is the bitterness and the fruit mix. Quite pleasant, will make it a rendez-vous every year.

An amber IPA with a thin white head. In aroma, biscuitty malt with smooth British hops, faint and smooth. In mouth, biscuitty malts with herbaceous British hops, lightly floral, light butterscotch, roasted notes, faint citrus, not bad. On tap at Arrow and Loon, June 22 2011.

Had this one on at the Arrow & the Loon in Ottawa tonight. Was planning on having their 1855, but the waitress told me about this one and said that it was selling fast (and they were not sure if they could get more). Poured a hazy golden-amber colour with some good solid lacing. Nice grainy smell with some hop at first, that disappeared a bit and showed hints of fruits. The mouthfeel was nice crispy and dry. It had a great balance between the grain and the hoppy bitterness as flavours goes. This one was surprisingly good, as I was not expecting a great IPA from this new brewer. Was glad I could try this one.

Purchased at the brewery and came in a growler. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with some amber hue. The very slightly off-white creamy head lasts a long time creating web lacing. Big grainy and straw hay nose with notes of caramel and hop. Medium-bodied and mildly oily mouthfeel. Grain malt is also present in the taste with a little butterscotch aftertaste. The hop is also well-balanced in there. Reminds me of the Heritage Premium Lager (from what I can remember) which makes sense as Kichesippi has purchased Heritage Brewing, and this is their first beer.

Bouteille 650ml (2010) titrant à 4,5% d’alcool. De couleur rouge-brune foncée et claire. Nez fruité (léger de cassis, notes de mûres et de prunes), de grains de céréales aux notes rôties, léger de pain de siegle avec des notes herbeuses. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture aux notes crémeuses et aqueuses. Moyen goût fruité sucrées aux faibles traces aigres (notes de cassis et de mûres, traces de prunes) avec de faibles traces de légumes bouillis lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de grains de céréales aux petites notes rôties et terreuses (faibles traces de brûlé) avec un léger goût de pain de seigle puis en finale l’on retrouve des notes amères de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées). Post-goût moyen, aux notes amères de houblon herbeux avec un goût fruité (moût de cassis) ainsi que de faibles traces rôties.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur dorée et claire. Nez de grains de céréales, léger de fruits (léger de raisins verts, traces de pommes), de miel et de houblon floral. Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-fort et une texture aux notes crémeuses et aqueuses. Léger goût fruitées aux faibles notes aigres (léger de pommes, notes de raisins verts) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de grains de céréales avec des notes de pain mouillé ainsi que des traces de miel puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume asséchante de houblon floral avec de faibles notes épicées (poivre très doux). Post-goût moyen-court, aux notes amères de houblon floral aux petites notes herbeuses ainsi qu’avec des notes fruitées (pelures de pommes).
