Description
Based in the heart of the English Lake District, brewers of bold, innovative beers since 2002, our beer range is eclectic and includes thirst quenching session beers, big hopped pale ales, deep dark stouts and sours. With a range of core beers, available in Cask, Keg, Bottle and Can.

At Hawkshead Brewery we make the sort of beer we like to drink - distinctive, full of flavour, handmade, and perfectly crafted. We are small enough to know most of our customers, not to care about the mass market, be able to brew lots of different beers, experiment and innovate. We are big enough to employ a team of five brewers, make around 140 barrels (23,000 litres) of beer a week, deliver direct throughout The North, and our Tap at our Staveley site is open every day.

In about 2017, a controlling interest in the company was taken by Liverpool-based Halewood Wines & Spirits, and this may result in further expansion.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, consumed 5 months past BBE. Murky golden-amber with small off-white head. Old skool aroma of citrus zest, caramel, pine. Taste follows, nice citrus hoppiness, maybe a hint of grape, caramel notes galore, bitter zesty and herbal finish. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light chewiness. A bit of a throwback, I rather like it through.

Bottle from Home Bargains, online. Pours a clear amber with small white head, reasonable retention. Aroma of biscuit, floral and slightly funky hop, some metallic notes. Taste of sweet malts, rich tea biscuits, some floral resin leading to a moderate bitterness. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation. A very biscuit noted brew and a fairly mediocre affair really, but I like biscuits so its a thumbs up from me!

Can from Home Bargains. Pours a light cloudy gold with big foamy head. Aroma is subtle but notes of grapefruit, melon, pineapple. Taste of soft tropical fruits, some pine. Light to medium bodied, soft pillowy mouthfeel. Decent session beer.

330ml can. Cloudy orange-gold, small creamy white head, nice retention. Decent hoppy aroma of orange, grapefruit, passionfruit. This comes through into the taste well, starting light and juicy but the finish is more bitter, pithy, piney, dry. Light to medium bodied, smooth dry resin noted mouthfeel. A good allrounder.

Keg @ Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Hazy golden with a small head. Fruity enough pine-infused aroma and taste and slightly carbonated texture. Also fairly soft textured for its strength.

Cask at the Dog & Gun, Keswick. Chestnut-red with an off-white head. Burnt caramel with cherries and a touch of Christmas cake. Decent body, sweetish. Enjoyed this; it's my sort of bitter.

Bottle from Keelham Farm Shop, Skipton. Golden-blonde with a head. Steady helles, certainly flavoursome with a small lingering floralness.
