This outstanding brewery, run by Ian Bradley, is where Bluebird Bitter is made. This 3.6% session beer won Supreme Champion Beer of Britain 1998 at the Great British Beer Festival Olympia London and has continued to be awarded accolades of recent years.
To the pure waters of the Coniston hills - add the finest Challenger hops and wonderfully roasted pale and crystal malts.
Allow the Coniston Brewing Company to use all their skill and instinctive know-how to create what must be described as the finest fully matured cask conditioned Ales.

Clear orange beer, creamy solid yellowish head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, some banana, bit spicy, sweet, caramel malts, sugary touch, orange peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, very malty, lots of grains, malty, cow fodder, some caramel. Aftertaste: grains, malty, pretty bitter, some banana, bit metallic, yeasty.

0.5l bottle. Clear golden color with medium white head. Aroma: yeast, bread, malt, hints of citrus. Taste: slight citrus, garss, bread. Medium body, moderate/lively carbonation. Light bitterness.

250ml bottle from Tebay services, drunk at home. Pours clear copper, thin receding white head. Aroma is a little cobwebby with some caramel. Taste is slick, with honey, caramel, cobwebs and a warming alcohol presence. A bit harsh.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - deep amber red with a decent head. Lovely. Nose - toffee, molasses, wood. Taste - brown bread and burnt raisins. Dry plum skins. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - lovely.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. From Beers of Europe. Pours clear deep ruby brown with a persistent thin white head. Aromas of toffee, molasses, wood. Taste is malty brown bread, toasted nuts. Bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Euston Tap, 20/11/16. Clear golden copper with a decent off white cap. Nose is biscuit malt, straw, light bread, toffee, earthy. Taste comprises fruit scone, straw, biscuit, light toffee, fruit tang, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter close. Decent enough bitter.

Rating from bottle collection/historic notes. Bottle, source not noted. Poured a hazy, amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit and bread. Moderate sweetness, fairly high bitterness. Medium body, light texture. Bitter finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - lemon, light biscuit and a metallic note. Taste - lemon plus pith. Barley water backdrop. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - happy to drink this.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - deep amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - lemon zest, biscuits and a slight metallic note. Taste - more lemon zest. Cola. Metallic again. Palate - light bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry minerally finish. Overall - solid.
