Description

Amber ale made for a local festival, bottle shared by tderoeck. Very thick, foamy, cobweb-lacing, moussy, egg-white head on a clear coppery amber coloured beer. Aroma of rusk, gingerbread, dried orange peel, liquorice candy, coriander seed, vaguer notes of ladies' perfume, cloves, peanuts and dried banana. Fruity onset, banana, apricot and red apple, sweetish with a sourish edge, medium carbonated, supple and bit resinous mouthfeel; cleanish peanutty, caramelly and bit toasty maltiness ending in a long, quite hoppy, peppery, drying bitter finish blending well with the toasty aspect; some caramelly malt sweetness (and smoothness) lingers. Decent Belgian style amber, a 'spéciale belge' of sorts, but hoppier and cleaner than average and in that sense with a kind of English twist to it.

23rd June 2018, shared bottle at the Cotteridge gathering. Hazy golden pour, off-white head. The nose held yeasty esters alongside some heavy lemon/citrus smells. The taste followed along the same lines, heavy citrus tartness and a yeast presence, not really my thing.

33cl bottle. A hazy dark golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of mid sweet banana, wheat and yeat. Taste of floral hops, citrus and lime, mild banana and wheat, okay!

Had this at the Ratebeer Tasting and Cotteridge Gathering, Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham, Saturday 23rd June 2018. Five beers in and I am now beginning to clear the backlog around this end of the table and catch up with folk. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Nice furry softness, dry, fruity, actually really dry.A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
