Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours hazy pale straw color with white head. Aromas of wheat and fruit. Slightly sweet fruit and wheat flavors with a hint of lemon. I was expecting a German style hefeweizen based on the name but there was no banana, clove or bubble gum flavors. This is a straight-up American whaet ale. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Craig.

500 ml bottle from BevMo Salinas. Nose of chocolate, coffee, prunes, and a pumpernickel bready note. Pitch black as night (virtually no color along the edges) with a small cinnamon tan head. Flavor has lots of bitter chocolate, coffee, and hints of black molasses. Excellent stuff, one of the best non BA impys I’ve had.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a brown head. Roasty, coffee aroma. Chocolate, licorice flavor with coffee and roast. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate and coffee linger with licorice.

Bomber from BevMo. Pours ruddy dark amber with a little beige head. Sweet, smokey malt aroma. Med plus body. Flavor is treacle. Not getting smoke. Pretty much malt. Mild fruit/hop towards the finish, but mostly malt.

Bottle. Observation: no matter what style they are making, this brewery only puts out beers that are 8%. Conspiracy? It’s anyone’s guess. Pours with a deep brown (near black) body and a small brown head that fades a bit too quickly. Aromas are strong with chocolate, toffee, coconut, dark fruits, leather, dust, fudge, metal, oatmeal, coffee and roast. Flavors of roast, cola, bitter coffee (roasted acrid flavors), chocolate, cocoa powder, earthy, dusty, some vanilla. Really a strong bitterness. A very chalky palate and aftertaste (especially as it warms). Light carbonation. Not a huge fan to be honest.

Bottle from the Citrus Heights BevMo. Pours very dark brown with a creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate with a slight hint of sour milk. Med body. Flavor is a bit soy, but chocolate it is - with a lot of burnt malt bitter. Worth the money.

Bottle from the BevMo near Sunrise in Sacramento. Pours copper with a foamy off-white head. Huge resin aroma. Med + body; frothy carb. Flavor is a lot of pine and grapefruit. It’s harsh. The caramel back ground is smashed. But this will hold it’s own against the strongest of the NW products. It burns. It burns. Well, in a good way. Every once in awhile, someone should push the envelope. Now someone has!

Bomber from the Natomas BevMo. Pours hazy dirty gold with a foamy off-white head. Smells a bit corny with underlying honey sweetness. Near medium body; frothy carb. Flavor is like light stone fruit, with some breadiness, and a touch of hop bitter. Maybe more than a touch. Could be citrus. Drinkable.
