Bottle. A lightly unclear dark golden to amber colored beer with a slowly collapsing off-white head leaving some lacings. The aroma has a bit sharp hoppy accent, with pine cones, resins and grapefruit. Some caramel and a faint touch of roasted malts and toffee chocolate. It’s a bit more malty than I’d prefer, but with a nice bitterness wrapping up most of it. Resins, pine cones and grapefruit zest. Full body and a nice carbonation level, quite dry. Lasting bitter and dry finish. Quite unusual hop profile here, but I like it. 140730

Bottle. It pours an unclear golden body under a two-finger white head. The aroma is pretty yeasty, but with a nice fruitness. A bit undefined, but at least grapes and melon. Some grass and pine cones. Not much malt neither on aroma nor in the flavor. There’s a pleasant bitterness, with pine cones, some resins and yeast. Medium to full body, quite dry and with lots of carbonation. Fruity and lightly yeasty finish. Well, it’s by no means impressive, especially the yeast pulls down the score, but it’s not foul. 140730

500ml bottle @ the 2nd Shrewsbury Bottle Share, courtesy of me, picked up at Cave a Bulles, Paris. I found this an intriguing beer, cloudy like Old Rosies, yeasty with a saison dryness and some fuzzy lemon drifting in. None of us could quite pick out any dates but still, a nice blonde from this Parisian brewery.

Shared 50cl bottle at the second Shrewsbury Bottle Swap on 24th Feb 2014. Hazy dull golden body with a full head. Tried to find any hints of the dates mentioned on the label, I failed and found only a little yeastiness and some citrus notes within the aroma. No dates in the taste either, for me anyway. This was OK but lacked depth and flavour. There was a dry finish but overall it didn’t live up to it’s billing as an interesting and different beer. We moved on.

Keg at La Fine Mousse, 17th October 13. Good smoked beer, some spice and the peat comes through. Quite nice

Small, but stable cream head over hazy reddish brown beer. Smoked, if faintly, roasted chestnuts. Faintly sourish, faintly phenolic, smoked malts. Has some sweetness in the background, as the aftertaste of an ash-roasted chestnut. A tad watery finish, certainly for a 7.5% ABV beer! Quite slick, medium bodied at best, faintly spritzy. Taste is OK, but body and palate need seriously beefing up. Thanks to Stefaan!

Hazy amber colour, firm off-white head. Aroma of citrus, birch wood, grapefruit, tropical fruits, floral notes, quite spicy. Bitter flavour, sweet malts, nice hop profile. Bitter finish, hops, malty touch. Nice and fresh IPA, feels quite classical, despite the addition of rooibos and cola nuts.
