Green bottle brought back from a friend’s trip to Japan: Cloudy pale orange color akin to peach juice, but a little darker, with a thin white head. Not much aroma, just a little sweet and malty. The flavor is startling at first sip; crisp florals, herbal, and bready. There is a little sweetness in the background from the malts, but overall a decent and crisp flavor profile.

Draught at Molto. Pale gold color, fine head. Nice citrus fruit nose and flavor in a Belgian wit. Lots of wheat character, somewhat bready, seems unspiced. Crisp, nice tartness. Decent.

hazy orange with nice frothy white head. Soft hops and Mikan nose. Light tart mouth, very well balanced. Dry palate. Dry Mikan finish. Superb.

Draught at CBB. Bright shiny gold. Nice hoppy nose, light clean malts, citrus fruits. Malty but clean flavor, good hop presence, nice bitterness and balance. I couldn’t find much influence from the sakekasu. Maybe a bit of pepper and umami compared to the regular version. Nice enough.

Draught at Bungalow. A new version, with way more hops. Glowing, deep gold, fine head. A slightly funky nose, estery, grapefruit and lemon, very Belgian. Flavors of grapefruit and peaches, biscuity malt, big bitterness. Body is full and just a bit too heavy, but a big improvement. March ’13: 7/3/6/3/13. Draught at Bungalow. Clear golden with a low, fine head. SPicy Belgian yeast nose, biscuits, pilsner-like malt, grass. Sweet, yeasty, spicy flavor with light hops. Bready. Ok, but a bit lacking. Seems like they just fermented their pilsner with a Belgian yeast strain. Decent, but could use more hopping and dryness.

I had this as part of the 1500 yen lunch set at Craft Molto in Umeda. 7% A golden brown cloudy pour with a 1 inch head of white foam. A smoked aroma followed by a delicious smokey fruity spiced weizen flavor. Nice. Very easy to drink and flavorful, I would definitely try this again!

cloudy mahogany color. Very estery smokey and a touch of milk chocolate. Big smokey mouth, full bodied and tons of bananas. Very little hop character. Big bad ass and slightly warming. Perhaps a bit too much of everything and slightly cloying but very enjoyable.

Draught at Molto. Dark brown, cloudy, with orange-amber tints and a fine, teach white head. Nice nose of soke, chocolate, banana, clove, caramel. A bit of smoked salmon and bonito flakes. Rich, sweet, estery flavor. Sweet orange, peach, light smoke. Lovely. Not all that smoky, but very tasty and smooth. More fruit than smoke.

Draught at Molto. Great nose of citrus, cat piss, cut grass. Amber orange with a light head. Sweet, light caramel flavor, very grassy, cat piss. Malty, with great hops. Peach, apricot. Well balanced. Another winner in this series.

On tap at Yellow Ape Craft. This was a really nice dark gold weizen with a biscuit start which moved onto a spicy white finish. It was fairly warming for a 6% beer and had a bit of a bite but quite nice. I liked it. Worth a try.
