Dark chocolate brown with a fine head. Aroma of chocolate and wheat, bananas, spice, cake. The flavor is a chocolate-banana cake, with spices. rich dark roasted chocolate, dry finish with melon. This is about the richest and most filling beer I have tried. Huge! Powerful, smooth, excellent. A meal. The best weizenbock I’ve had to date. Don’t say that about too many Japanese beers!

On tap at Cheers in Yokohama. Rich, medium sweet, full-bodied stout. Rather light on the roasting. Chocolate, wood, a bit of fruit, oatmeal. Great body. Rich and delicious.

Pitch black with a low, hard, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and cocoa, with a bit of coffee, and roasted malt. Creamy, relatively dry. Big, creamy mouth of chocolate and hazelnuts, burnt wood too. Very rich and flavorful, with a strong roasted bitter finish.

Translucent black with a tall, off-white head. Malty, roasty aroma. A bit of coffee and dark chocolate. Has some cereal depth. Ok but not overwhelming. Dry, mild flavor. Subtle tastes of chocolate and nutty grains. Creamy and pleasant. Basically a bit thin, with a bit too much carbonation. Decent and well-balanced but not very exciting.

Draught at Q-Brick. Deep, dark gold color. Huge noble hop aroma with cereal grains. Rich malt flavor with slight honey and caramel touch, biscuits, grassy hops, excellent bitterness. Low carbonation and smooth body. A lovely pils with great flavor, great hops, great cereals. Excellent. (Bottle from the Brewery (2009) 7/3/7/3/13. Dark golden color, with a touch of amber and a tall, creamy head. Malty aroma, pils-like, really. Buttery, with biscuits. Tangy, slightly fruity flavor, with big biscuity malts and a bit of honey, noticeable aroma and bittering hops. Decent balance, with a rather good, bitter finish. Clean and hoppy.)

Bottle. Solid amber color with orange tints, and a middling to low, thick and tight head. Pretty and appetizing. Slightly sweet, malt-rich aroma with dark fruits, molasses, raisins, and a touch of chocolate. Malty, slightly chocolatly and fruity flavor, but not overly rich. Rather dry finish. Good balance. A very sessionable amber ale with rich malt flavors and fruits. Lightly hopped but finishes dry. Decent stuff.

Bottle. Rich dark gold color, almost amber. Strangely bubbling almost like a lava lamp! Rather weak aroma, I though, with banana and also barley malts. Rich, well-balanced flavor, with sweet banana cake as well as a bit of sour and some bitter to balance well. Relatively thick, rich body. Nicely done.

Deep brown with little head. Sweet chocolate malts, caramel, toasty/roasted malts, light sourness. Medium bodied. Smooth with a light bittersweet finish. Very tasty porter- glad I finally got a pint. (Cask at Pangea)

Slightly hazy reddish-brown colour. Slightly toasty aroma with woody notes and light caramel. Rich caramel and toasty palate. Clean and balanced, but gets lighter towards the finish.

Dark brown color. Heavy cocoa, mocha and baked cake aroma. Very rich nose. Excellent. Huge roasty mouth, with cacao, brownies, but a bit unbalanced. Still good depth. Solid bitter finish with lingering cacao notes. Needs a bit more body, but other wise great.
