Thnx to the brewer ! Pours darker blonde, decent white head, medium stability. Taste is yeasty, mild to moderately high intensity. Peppery notes from the saison yeast. Malty ( intense bready ) Taste is intensely malty, peppery-yeasty. Mild bitterness. mild sweet, almost plastic aftertaste. very high carbo hiding much of the taste. Not my favourite by cbm.

thnx to the brewer !!! Pours unclear warm blonde. no real head ( perhaps this is still a bit young ? ) Smell is oaky ( wine ? ) complex, woody, bit of the buttery of the brett ( no diacethyl ) Taste is quite refined ! Brett, intense oak, sharp bitterness lingers. bit wattery, but since this has no carbonation, I think it might be a bit young ( shoudl re-rate this later on ) Still, this is very promissing though ! Re-rate after some time in the bottle. I liked it less now, but agree with the words I wrote. 3.5 at this time, vs 3.8 when too young.

At Modeste in Antwerp. "Red IPA" - still a very rare and anecdotic thing in Belgium - but from a deliberately modern 'Americanized' craft brewery so curious to try this. Tightly 'papery' lacing, moussy, stable, pale greyish beige head, hazy bronze-ish amber colour (rather than a deep coppery red actually, but ok). Aroma of dried apricots, toasted peanuts, tea leaves, dried orange peel, soap, pine needles, walnut peel. Dried fruitiness in the mouth, very subdued in sweetness, notably nutty from the start, toasty, bit disfigured by overly sharp and numbing carbonation; ends with a very outspoken, 'roughly' piney, peppery and grapefruity, long and thorough hop bitterness, through which the nuttiness persists. Bitter, nutty, dry and resiny, could perhaps be embellished by more 'new' hop aroma and clearly overcarbonated certainly for this style - but I applaud the fact that this small brewing enterprise uncompromisingly opts for this kind of beers rather than regurgitating old Belgian clichés, like too many other starters in this country do.

Thanks! Sampled bottled @ Modeste 2017. Hazy orange, creamy head. Nose is weird stale grain malt, raw bitter hay,… taste is oddly sweet, massively soapy, sugar, huge perfume,… Weak soap body, meh not for me.
