455 ml can at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Hazy yellow orange color with white head. Hoppy and malty aroma, grass, citrus, stone and tropical fruits, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. 7-3-8-4-16

Is indeed quite black. Undetermined clarity (assumedly clear) with a light tan head atop showing moderate-to-strong retention.
Quite dry and moderately roasty in the nose, but no sign of any caramel or much base malt at all. It’s like a light porter with a bit of gentle fruitiness and debittered black malt. A touch of lactic character, even, from the dark malts with little/no hop character (light herbal qualities at most) and no alcohol or flaw.
Dry again in the mouth with plentiful, fairly engaging carbonation and a good deal of roast. Never gets fatiguing though it does remain dry and even lactic on the finish with only a bit of honey and caramel below it for balance. Still, it’s clean and polished and there’s no butter, alcohol or messy hop acid. Easy drinking stuff and great attenuation. Could use a bit more malt softness, I suppose.

Dark amber, clear with a well-retained, white head atop.
Smells of light cereal grain (biscuit, corn, vanilla) with some butter behind it. Lots of specialty malt here creating a large range of bread and red fruit character as the hops yield light pepper and herbs. Pretty straightforward amber ale and the grain character is pleasant enough, though having to contend with the light diacetyl is a bit problematic.
Very dry in the mouth with a somewhat hard, grainy texture and moderately engaging carbonation. Red fruits, light toffee, brown bread and a strong peppery hop character all keep the palate dry and it goes through various stages of brightness to arrive at a somewhat malty, very bready finish with mild bitterness and a touch of butter and sourdough lingering. I think it does what it sets out to do, for the most part, but needs a bit more softness/suppleness from the malt to combat the strong specialty malt aspect/heavy bread/grain character.

Light haze in this deep amber-golden beer. Well-carbonated and sporting a white head that is dense and shows moderate retention.
Tangerine and melon from the El Dorado are joined by a bit more austere pine and grapefruit. Lots of playful fruitiness and seemingly highly attenuated, with only light biscuit and a touch of sourdough as far as malts go. It definitely provides a good depth of hop character, though it leans to the more resinous side.
In the mouth it’s indeed dry, though quite fruity at first with melon, tangerine, kumquat and lush, green, vegetal hop notes all contributing brightness and levity. As it progresses, it dries out vastly (already starting quite dry) and gains a strong graininess (I guess I wouldn’t go as far as to call it husky) and finishes with some strong pine and grapefruit-derived resin character. Moderately bitter with no alcohol or flaw. Very, very different than Mosaic and Galaxy. Much more in the West Coast style with only the lighthearted tangerine and melon-like juiciness briefly giving impressions of a New England style IPA. A bit too much bitterness and pine for my liking, with astringency building up on the palate. Needs a good deal more malt depth to balance out this level of bitterness/acidity.

A murky yellow gose with a thin white head. In aroma, beautiful sweet fruity malt with loads of citrus, grapefruit pulp, light Brett, light lactic notes, Epsom salts, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity lemony malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, Epsom salts, light Brett notes, very nice.
