Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. Amber with a scummy looking cream head; floral aroma; peachy fruit taste; with a dry bready finish, with a light, but sustained bitterness. A crisp, clean, easy drinking, Ordinary Bitter, and certainly the best World Cup themed beer I’ve come across so far this summer.

500ml bottle @ the Fourth Shrewsbury Bottle Share April 2014, courtesy of Luc. Sounds wrong, looks wrong, tastes wrong. This is basically liquid garlic bread. As soon as the pouring began the aroma was quite overpowering. I like garlic as much as the next man, but this is too much. Good for a novelty but that’s it.

500ml bottle bought by Luc to the fourth Shrewsbury bottle swap on 28th April 2014: my beer of the night. There was even a garlic bulb in the bottle, as if you couldn’t tell it was a garlic flavoured beer! Mid-brown with no real head to mention, it smells and tastes of garlic: I like garlic. Not sure I could have had a whole bottle without some sort of food (chips would have been fine), but my large pour enabled me to know it does what it says on the label: it’s a garlic beer.
