Description
Binghams Brewery opened its doors in 2010 and was located in the Berkshire village of Twyford. We’ve been brewing quality cask ales across the spectrum from lighter thirst slaying session beers (3.7%) to something with a bit more oomph (5.0%).
Moved to Woodley in 2020, brewing ceased shortly after.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Pale amber with a tight cream head; light apricot aroma; in the mouth there is an immediate sharp metallic bitterness, that then reveals a sweet fruity body; with a lasting dry spicy finish. Very good - the best of this series so far.

Cask at the Catherine Wheel (JDW), Henley. A bright copper pour with no head; spiced orange aroma; oily body with a jammy orange marmalade taste, and a slowly building citrus bitterness; then a long dry finish with lingering orange. Really good.

Cask at the Hope and Champion, Beaconsfield. Poured a clear straw colour with a frothy white head and a clingy white head. The aroma is light grassy hop. The flavour is light bitter with a smooth creamy buttery yeast hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at the Monk’s Retreat, Reading. Brown with a thick beige head and a prickly fizz. Rather fake chocolate up front then smoke and earthiness comes through. Quite smooth behind the prickles. Fake chocolate dies back with time to be replaced with milk chocolate. A little leaf mulch in the finish and a touch of red wine. Pleasant porter but lacks the wow factor.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. A clear pale amber pour with a loose white head; floral aroma with a trace of pepper; fruity taste, melon and citrus to start; and then a sharp grapefruit bitterness emerges leaving a long clean finish. Light, refreshing and really good. An interesting comparison to the Brave Four Point in the current JDW festival. This clearly shows the effect of adding a decent quantity of hops!

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. An attractive reddish copper colour with a thin white head; malty aroma with some caramel; an earthy bitterness with a sweet malty caramel body and some red fruit; then more earthy bitterness to finish with a hint of spice and some orange marmalade. Solid and satisfying.
