(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 21 May 2011) Amber colour with brief, frothy head. Fruity nose with notes of apricots, orange and citrussy hops. Fruity, malty taste with orange, peaches, biscuity malt and citrussy hops in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Quite nice.

Cask at CPK, Pimlico, London on 21st May 2011. Clear amber with thinnest of foam heads and slight lacing. Sweet aroma, caramel malt present that is quite strong in-mouth. Notes of lemon, grapefruit and apple. Unsure whether this was a design or ’turning’ note. Finish quite citric and rounded.

Cask at CPK. Pours jet black with a mild, tan foam head. Roasted malt aroma, some cocoa, nothing out of the ordinary. Flavor, though, is quite distinct. Very pointy. Perhaps some ink and iodine underscoring a medium roasted malt character. Decent sweetness, some ash, burnt sugar, licorice, spices. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Roasted malt finish, mild smokiness, a bit of chocolate syrup and light coffee. Very dynamic beer, highly enjoyable.

Cask at CPK on 2nd March 2011. Black with thin vanishing pale brown head. Rich blend of coffee, chocolate and cherry flavours in aroma and liquid, and a superb smoky kick and roast malts. A rather fruity end, with rich fruitiness lingering along with roasted maltiness. Very enjoyable, reasonably light-textured and easy drinking.

Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico on 2 March 2011. Reddish with offwhite foam head and little lacing. Sweet & earthy aroma, and the main taste is very fruity (cherry/grapes/berries) notes of cinnamon, peel along with some herbiness and floral hop. Finish was sweet but with bitterness increasing. Slightly grainy texture, and zingy with tingling tongue sensation. Enjoyable and not overly sweet.

[Cask at Reading beerfest] Black; loose tan head. Smooth, easy drinking stout, lots of coffee and roasty flavours, some chocolate & fruit. Thoroughly enjoyable, would be happy to have this again. Impressive stuff - much better than their Space Hoppy that I’d had just before.

[Cask at Reading beerfest] Golden, slight white head. Thin mouthfeel. A little orange, a few flowers but rather watery. Rather disappointing - I had hoped for more from my first beer from this new brewery.
