Cask at The Marquis of Grandy, New Cross. The lady serving asked if I wanted a taster first, which can be a bad sign but can also mean the beer's just more interesting than local Ale drinkers may like. It was more of the former. Opaque copper. Thin foamy white head. Aroma has low key citrus, grains and dry malts. Flavourwise it had some tart citrus and an almost saline element. Chewy malts. But all a bit off centre. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. I did not enjoy this.

330ml bottle at Ninety One Living Room in Brick Lane. Close to clear warm golden body, stable white head, fair lacing. Smell of fruity hops with a citric touch, promising. Flavoured with momemts of citrus hops with orange to the fore, added by soft malt. Citric end with subdued bitterness. Decent (London, 28.02.2026).

Can from the cornershop. Looks appetising, bright amber with a decent white head that slowly fades. Nose is lemon, pine, caramel. Medium sweetness, light-medium bitterness. Very British flavours. Light-medium body, lively carbonation, lingering woody hop bitterness, reasonably dry. Decent old-school pale ale.

Cask at Marquis of Granby. Vaguely opaque amber. Thinnest white head. Aroma- if I really stretch me nasel muscles iI get lazy malts. Light tangy fruit. Peripheral bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation at best. Long uninteresting finish.
