Description
Our Brewery was founded in 1993, the idea of Bill Allingham, the youngest son of the family. Edward Allingham, Bill's elder brother has since taken over the brewery and runs it as sole proprietor. Fast forward to present day. Edward Allingham's youngest son Matthew Allingham is now Head brewer of the mad brewer range and Brewery manger and shares the role of head brewer with his dad of the leatherbritches brewery range of beers. with the ever-increasing demand for the superb award winning beers Early in 2002 equipment was purchased to bottle beers using traditional methods. This is still our method of choice today. We are also proud to distribute our cask ales to over 150 real ale pubs and inns across the country and look forward to regaining contact with our wonderful customers in the near future.

The brewery has occupied three sites since opening in 1993. In 2011 the brewery moved to the current location at the Brewery Yard near the Tap House in Smisby village.

May 2019: Cask 1/3 pint, gravity dispense, at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019. ABV 4.6%. Reddish brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of brown malts, hints of berries. The flavour has also brown malts, and tingling fruity hops.

Gravity cask at the GBBF Winter 2023 Festival, day 2 at Burton On Trent Town Hall, 17/02/23. Chestnut brown with an off white head. Nose is rich fruit esters, brown bread, toffee, dates. Taste comprises toffee, fruit slice, brown sugar dusting, raisins, herb. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Okay.

Gravity cask at CAMRA Winter Beer Festival 2023, Burton-upon-Trent. Pours clear golden amber with a beige head. Aroma: sweet, malty, caramel, toffee. Taste: moderate sweet & light to moderate bitter, malty, bread, caramel. Smooth. Medium body with light carbonation.

Sample at GBBF Winter. Amber pour, small layer of head. Malty aroma, sweet, toffee. Taste is malty, smooth, mildly sweet, dark bread. Creamy.

Delt med Rune på GBBF Winter festival i Burton-Upon-Trent. Nøttebrun. Ringskum med litt farge. Nøttearoma. Smaken sør frukt. Fruktig søt bitter avslutning.

Panda at home, thanks to Graham / Grumbo, 30/01/23. Golden to light copper with a white crown that clears edgewards. Nose is stewed fruits, grains, grass, herb. Taste comprises fruit rinds, vinous, hedgerow, twiggy, herb, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so golde ... twigometer rising through amber!
