Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

750mL bottle, pours a clear ruby red with a small white head. Aroma has lots of musty dry red grape skins, a touch of blueberry skins, and plenty of wild yeast. Flavour is dry, musty and buggy, with plenty of dry red grape skins, earthy blueberry skins, wild yeast, and a touch of acidity. Earthy grapes, blueberry skins and bugs in nice cohesion. Very good.

750ml (thx, Matt!) @ Salesforce. Appearance: nice purple with a bit rose head. Aroma: funky, some manure, tannic, grape skins. Taste: along the same lines. Nice tartness and grape character. Overall: nice one.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Clear dark orangey red with small white head. Juicy grape skins, mild young oak in the background, feint earthiness, decent. Reminds me of the more recent Dageraad Enology's.

Opaque, tart, more kettley in character. Lots of raspberry. Simple but effective…but also I know this isn’t their best work.

Pale pink, thick head. Hazy. Tart, light cherry, some esters from the saison base. Good but there’s more levels this beer could have reached.

Can from the LCBO. Lightly hazed pale gold with a foamy white cap that lingers. Nose is bright tropical fruit with some melon, green grape, nectarine, pine, bubble gum and flowers. Flavour follows with a light+ melon and mango sweetness leading to a medium pine, pineapple and citrus peel bitterness. Mouth is medium+ and creamy with slightly soft carbonation and a juicy finish 8/4-/8/3+/15

A dark reddish burgundy red ale with a thin rosey head. In aroma, sweet fruity mix of tart cherries, lactic acid notes, Epsom salts, light horseblanket, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity mix of montmorency cherries, lactic acid notes, Epsom salts, light Brett, very nice. On tap at Lupulus.
