Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

A lightly rosey ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light Brett, light lactic notes, light berries, tart cherry, very nice. In mouth, a nice smooth fruity malt with light Brett, lactic acid, Epsom salts, light buttery notes, very nice. Bottle at Brother’s Beer Bistro.

750mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out shitloads of lime, followed by floral notes and light brett. Flavour is floral, with lots of brett, fruity esters, and light funk. Nice mix of funk and fruitiness. Excellent.

500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of Belgian yeast, fruity esters, some alcohol and candied sugar. Flavour is more like a tripel, with candied sugar, alcohol and fruity esters. Again, more like a tripel than a saison. Not overly authentic or complex, and it gets cloying after a while. Not my thing. Disappointing.

500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of cheesy funk, barnyard notes and light piney hops. Flavour brings out a huge lovely funk quality, dominating everything else. Light bittering hops and dry biscuity malt on the finish. Excellent.

Bottle - Creamy mango. Cloudy gold with a small white. Light mango notes and some tartness with a clean finish. Mango flavours aren’t classic, but subtle and nice.

Hazy tan. Not much head. The aroma is mostly mango, showing some tartness. On the palate, tart, touch yeasty, light mango taste. Balance between mango sweetness and lactic tartness leans more towards the acidity.
