Bottle, while wondering how the hell is this the 1st time for me drinking this. Almost completely clear darker golden pour with a white head. Nose is resinous sticky sweetness, light caramel, fairly macro obviously, but still got some character. Flavour is big resin, light caramel, a touch of booze in the best way and less bitterness than expected, but enough to keep it going. Gotta say this is much better than expected. It feels wrong, but it is what it is

2017 bottle from review package. Sweet sugar smell right under the cap. Light brown ale beer, with some haze, under a foamy tan head. Sweet nose fades a bit once it's in the glass. Taste brings back the sweetness, and some slightly oxidized malt. There's still a bit of hop sharpness to it. Guess I'll have to get the latest one to see how it compares fresh.

Backlog January 2009. Clear amber body under a bright beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel and alcohol. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, cellar notes and nice bitterness. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. Nice, bold and tasty beer that reminds me a bit about strong Belgium ales.

I was in the closest big box supermarket recently and they had a huge, repeat, huge display of six packs of this beer. Fortunately they were also selling singles because a similar iteration of this beer I’ve had years ago was only okay. Snifter ready to go, I make the pour. It arrives an impressive clear shiny amber topped by a decent skim of light tan foam. A sweetish smell with grain showing up also. A drink now. I’ll say that my expectations were low and the beer exceeds but not by a whole bunch. Mostly malt, grain, Karo syrup, maybe a hint of molasses. I wish it was thicker. Sweet, yes, but not too much. I am surprised by how much the ABV is covered up. Not bad, I’m reminded of barrel aged Arrogant Bastard back in the day only sweeter, but I am glad that I got only one bottle and not a sixer. Lagunitas used to be out in front of of it with Undercover, Little Sumpin, Hop Stoopid, Sucks and more recently Maximus but that seems to not be the case now. Unfortunate.

On tap at Chuck's - Greenwood. Pours black with an off-white head. Nice bourbon and roasted malts on the nose. Flavour has a pretty big bourbon barrel up front, good roasted malts underneath, strong espresso. Very nice.

A spot on west coast IPA. Popping fresh citrus hops, a bready sweet malt and sold carbonation make it refreshing and challenging. Glad to see it sneaking into Liquor Control Board outlets in Central Canada!

A classic light tan head on a near black body. Nose is pretty standard with semi-sweet chocolate and coffee with a slightly vegetal edge. Lots of what you want in an IS. A solid coffee, chocolate, caramel combo leads the profile with some dark berries, well roasted malt and ash mixed in. No excess booziness. A solid quality low price classic.

A dense off-white head on a light golden body. Nose includes malt, tangy hops, spice and brown sugar. This is a nicely bended malt-first IIPA. The taste profile extends from the elements in the nose, including dank and fruity hops, apricots, some spice and chewy, slightly caramel malts. Nice richness and density. A bit of alcohol warmth too.
