It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, moderate carbonation. Taste of chocolate, coffee, light fruit. Enjoyable.

Cask pint at the brewery - marketed as “John Shaft” - anyway, I think the base beer of this is the best damn porter made stateside - the addition of chocolate doesn’t exactly enhance the experience, but it certainly is not a detriment, either - cacao compliments the malt and makes it a little sweeter than the base beer - the only downside is it cuts down on the character of the malt - still delicious.
