Description
Anchor is America’s first and oldest craft brewery, with roots dating back to the California gold rush. Today, our beers are handmade from an all-malt mash in our traditional copper brewhouse. Our process combines the time-honored art of classical craft brewing with carefully applied, state-of-the-art modern methods.

Bottled. Pale gold with moderate and staying head. Citrus and bitterness but some real off flavorings. Unsuccessful.

Draft. Pours very dark with a minimalistic head. Chocolate, malts, your standard porter stuff. OK.

Draft. Pours deep read w/little head. I didn’t find the alcohol as strong as some others and pretty drinkable for a barley wine - danger!

Old rating from 03-09-15 - 330ml bottle, pours a dark colour with a brown head, which is a surprise. Aromas of roasted malt. Tastes of roasted & bready malts with a light flavour of wheat coming through. Feel is of a smooth beer with low carbonation. Overall not your average beer, let alone wheat beer. A nice surprise.

Magnum! Sweet and toasted malty with notes of caramel and toffee, dried fruit, cocoa accents, medium body, malty lingering spiced finish. Pretty good considering the age here.
