Description
We brew beer that is distinct because we believe that moments together call for something memorable. It could be our Midwestern roots, or the land we draw inspiration from, but crafting the right beer for the right moment is central to us.

This is a good weizen. Full aroma, with bubblegum, citrus, and coriander. Full, sweet flavor with banana and wheat, fairly sweet. It does however, look filtered and it is thin on the palate.

Deep brown body, thin tight buff head. Echoing the comments of the previous two reviewers, the buttered popcorn characteristics dominated the aroma in particular, washing out the vanilla, oak, and cherry notes. Tannic body dominated by roasted malts, vanilla, and oak, the cherries being tart but not overpowering or even dominant. The diacetyl reappeared in the finish, and became cloying over time, despite my attempts to ignore it. A flawed but intriguing beer.

Bottled (Thanks heemer77). Rubyish brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, ryebread and a bit barrel hints. Flavour is vanilla, alcohol, spices, some bourbony hints. Still a bit empty in my opinion. Hides the 9.5% well.

Muddy brown, not much head. Mild vanilla and milk chocolate aroma. Starts a bit fizzy, then typical barrel aged flavors open up - oak, vanilla and in the aftertaste bourbon. Actually I was suprised to read later that this is 9.5 %, almost watery palate - barrel ageing makes this drinkable, base beer here is nothing special.

12/02/06 Walk the Line Barleywine Festival, Dunedin, FL. 2000 vintage. Clear copper color with a minimal head. The aroma was on the light side with some toasted, burnt, pine and citrus notes. The flavor had the classic Barleywine dark fruitiness from like cherries or grapes as well as what tasted like molasses and pine hops.

A pitch black beer with a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of chocolate, but also with notes of the roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, combined with an acidic coffee note, as if the coffee has been standing and boiling on the heating plate, and a light note of chocolate. The body is a bit thin.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, orangey mahogany with a small, off-white head. Malty, burned aroma. Light and almost watery body with notes of hard roasted malt and a lightly burned edge. Dry finish with a lightly bitter edge from the malts. 290806

2006 bottle Nose of bourbon with coffee, vanilla, and a little chocolate; Dark brown with red edges and a tint tan head; Flavor was of bourbon, vanilla, with coffee notes and a samll hop finish. 9/4/8/4/17 4.2 8/28/06 2014 12 oz bottle from xdtfx. Nose is tons of sweet chocolate, vanilla, and very light bourbon. Clear dark brown with a big heavy lacing tan head but a rather thin body. Flavor is lightly sweet and peppery with lots of oaky vanilla and chocolate. Better than last time love the big chocolate bite.

2006 bottle from The_Enemy, consumed on 6/8/06.
Deep orange-honey colored body is somewhat hazy, despite a careful pour. Plenty of sediment, bottle conditioned. Sweet. Tons of minute bubbles rise fiercely. Rocky, snow-white head is large, well-retained and laces very thoroughly.
Nose is a mix of Styrian Golding-like lilac notes and plenty of spicy lemon-grass notes. Just the barest hint of oranges and light grapefruit gives a slight edge. But the goldings continue to be quite juicy and up-front. Malt is very bare, with just a touch of honey graham crackers that are lightly sweet at best.
The flavor is near bone-dry, with plenty of lilac-notes and the hint of dry graham crackers seen in the nose. It adds complexity through lightly biscuity barley notes. Hop bitterness spreads forth from the initial surge of herbs and lemons (and lilacs) to really dry out the flavor (which is already quite dry), with very petal/plant-like bitterness (delicate), light lime rinds and a very lasting acid (light). Carbonation seems prickly, though not overdone. The prickliness really accentuates the hoppiness and keeps the pale malts from asserting themselves. No alcohol noted anywhere. Dry, but not watery or thin in the least. Insanely drinkable. As much as I love bone dry beers, it could benefit from a touch more honey softness and a little less acid.

Poiurs a thin brown body with a small head. Some malt and bourbon in the aroma. Sweet flavor with some bourbon and vanilla. A bit of sourness in the finish. Thin for the style.
