Burnley Beer Festival 2015. Deep amber-red in colour. Has a fair amount of biscuit and grain in both its aroma and taste with a small bitter finish. Light textured and very palatable.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber, thin off-white head. Aromas of crystal malt up front, burnt sugar, light fruit, dried peel. Taste is honey sweet, faint bitterness at the back. Cleans up on the finish. Probably better on cask.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber orange with a decent head. Nose - sweet malt and sweet red fruit. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that is be fresher. Overall - unadventurous but well made.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear red-brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of malt, red apple, pale stone fruit. Taste is sweet, light nutty notes. Sweet finish.

Cask at The Harp. It pours clear deep mahogany brown with a small white head. The nose is rich maltage, wood, earth, toasty grain, brown bread, cake and a hint of dried fruits. The taste is bitter, malt-driven, wood, leather, toasted brown bread, light spice, fruit cake and chewy malt with lingering bitter-dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty robust for the style. A well made ESB.

Cask at the Kong’s arms near Waterloo. Copper / reddy coloured pour with a lasting speckled off white head. Aroma is caramel and toffee, tobacco, nutty malts. Flavor is composed of semi sweet malts, berry, wood and earthy, hint of smoke. Little ash tray in the finish. Palate is semi sweet, moderate cask condition. Lingering wood tannin. ,
