Description
We are always busy creating taste sensations, always looking for improvements or new flavours and optimizing our beers. Our beer is pronounced, complex, balanced, often full and soft in texture. We don’t brew beer for everyone, we only brew beer for people who love pronounced flavours. We do this by constantly tinkering with our recipes in search of perfection, we want to brew beer that is considered legendary. One has to tell stories about how great the beer of the Moersleutel is. Anyone who drinks our beer must be spoiled for life and must want nothing more.

Bottle from het Biermoment, batch 16 BB 11.18, 37.5 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma has lots of typical RIS features, but what stands out the most are tar, licorice and roasty ashes. Thick and creamy in texture. Flavor again gives some smoke and tar, lots of roast, but also some sweetness to balance it out. Still a bit rough perhaps, but again has potential to be great. Moersleutel remains to be one of the most promising young breweries we have.

Batch 5. Heavily hopped but still fresh. (Grape)fruity, bittersweet, powerful but light. When done like this, I certainly do like hops!

Very dark brown pour with a tall tan fine-grained head. Notes of roasted coffee as well as brewed coffee, roasted nuts, roasted malts, dark chocolate, molasses. Full body, thick and smooth texture, coffee-chocolatey aftertaste. Right up my alley.

37cl bottle at home. Pitch black pour with a tan head that is slow to rise to the surface, and that eventually gives way to a thin lacing. Notes of smoked malts, peated whiskey, tobacco, some dried fruit, dark chocolate. A bit sweeter than most peated stouts, more chocolatey. Smooth texture, low carbonation.

Bottle from Dorst. Hazy orange pour with a thin off-white head. Notes of citrus hops, caramel, unripe tropical fruit, pineapple. Medium body and carbonation and a bitter-sweet finish,

Bottle at Murphy’s Law. Clear dark brown pour with a thin espresso head. Notes of freshly roasted coffee, cold brewed coffee, roasted malts, roasted nuts (he he he), dark fruit, sour barrel notes, a bit of vanilla, cocoa, dark chocolate and more roast. A great beer, right up my alley.

Bottle. Black creamy pour. Aroma of mocha coffee, hazelnut and caramelised malt. Soft taste of earthy mocha coffee, caramelised malt, nuts, bitter hop and some bitter chocolate. Nice stuff, more body would make this even better. Bit too much carbonation as well.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized creamy brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, roast, coffee. Taste malts, dark malts, roasted malts, coffee, slightly chocolate, firm roasted malt bitterness and some chocolate bitter. Medium body, medium oily texture, decent to medium carbonation. Very solid beer once again. This brewery continues to surprise me.
