Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

Bottle. Extra Gerstebier according to the label, so knowing Butcher's Tears and mentioning the quite low alcohol percentage this is not your average Barley Wine, Color: Slightly hazy orange amber, off-white head. Aroma: Barley malt, hoppy notes. Taste: Barley malt, slightly sourish, floral and grassy hop. Herbal notes, spicy hints. Hints of grain and straw. Light to moderate sweet and modertae bitter with a little more bitterness at the dry-ish finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Well, what to say...? Yet another typical Butchers Tears beer. Surprising, coloring outside the lines, no wacky flavors and additions, 'just' very well brewed with a lot of craftmanship and brewing knowledge... I love this brewery!

Tap at Indewildeman, 6th October 23. Quick mini session, almost missed my flight due to it, but didn’t, so it’s all worth it. Pours golden and clear. Aroma is straw and hay, taste is bitter and floral, full, mellow, grass. Good

33cl Fles van Sterk. Mistig diepgouden kleur, dikke witte kraag. Hoppig, bloemig, licht harsig, citrus, smaak is enorm bitter, fris, lichtdroog, sinaasappelschil, licht gistig bijsmaakje wat neigt naar schimmelig, gelukkig niet heel storend aanwezig, fors bittere finish, bijna herbaal. Lichte body. Lekker.

Bottle. IPA with neomexicanus hops & emmer wheat according to the label. Color: Hazy golden, stable white head. Aroma: Hoppy, spicy and floral notes. Taste: Medium to over medium hopbitterness. Grassy, floral and spicy notes. Wheat malt. Fruity hints of citrus and stone fruit. Dry hoppy and earthy finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Another great Butcher's Tears. As always outside the lines of established beer styles and superb quality. Craftsmanship. These guys know what they're doing!
