Moderately cloudy peach-tangerine with the massive, well-retained white head we’ve all come to love and know from Trillium’s pale ales.
Clean, fresh yeast in the nose is surprisng. The last overly yeasty beer I had from these guys, a batch of double dry hopped fort point, gave off a sourish, very aspirinated nose. This is actually pleasant, plastery and light. Add to that some lighthearted citrus fruit hop notes, light pine (not resiny) and seemingly dry, biscuity malt notes. Not the usual honey and white bread dough I get from their Congress and Fort Point variants. It’s lovely and dosent seem to be the 7.2% that it is.
Diving right in, there’s a very robust, borderline punchy hop flavor up front, obviously much of it pine-driven. Light peaches, tangerines and the requisite grapefruit rind round out the flavors . Quite bitter though the very dextrinous body soaks a lot of it up and you’re left with a heavy acidity on the end that borders sour. Crackers, biscuits and popcorn-like flavors come from the malt, all very dry, allowing the beer to really present the hops. Flavorful, for sure, and despite always being a fan of dry IPAs, the acidity on the finish builds and builds and really needs some richer honeyed malt notes to balance better. I will say, however, that the aroma, while not massive and juicy, is really elegant. Very little of this heavy acidity breaks through and the fresh yeast element is charming alongside the delicate mandarin orange notes. Alcohol is concealed well.

Bottle thanks to Reynolds314! Pours cloudy golden, large white puffy long lasting head, dissipates slowly leaving lots of clumpy lacing. Aroma is hoppy, fruity, dank, passionfruit, pot, piney herbal. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter, juicy, fruity, hoppy, resinous and dank. Medium body. Another winner from Trillium. A bit too much lingering bitterness.

Clear, blonde with some very light auburn hues and a small, poorly retained head.
Let’s not fuck around here. This is a vessel for cold-brewed coffee and alcohol. Haha. I’ve been sippin on it for a while and my mouth is just full of earthy, crunchy roast, bitter chocolate, ash, cigar, and massive honey. I like how much they balanced this vs the coffee. But in the end, this is a cold brewed coffee beer backed by plenty of malt. Not too nuanced but really well-integrated between coffee and malt. Soft, creamy and like a delicious latte with a shitload of honey. It’s difficult to rate. The palate is taken over by coffee, so in some sense, it’s massively unbalanced, but in another, it’s like a cocktail made with honey, cold brew, barley and some dry alcohol notes. Would I ever drink this again? Absolutely not. Was it interesting to try? Definitely. Take that for what it’s worth..

Bottle thanks to Team Boston. Pours a hazy gold with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong pineapple, mango, grapefruit, pine. Medium mouth, tropical fruit, juicy, light bitter pine, very nice.

Farewell Jack bottleshare at Craft Clerkenwell. Third of the Triumphant Trillium Triumvant! Thanks to a very generous Mr Smith. Very hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Airy dry malts with good creamy sweetness. Big skunky hops, getting a bit dirty but in a mud bath wresting good kind of way. Pine. Slightly resinous tropical fruits. Hop spicy finish. Comes together very well indeed.

Farewell Jack bottleshare at Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Leighton. Hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and finely crisp. Airy malts, thin but creamy sweetness. Medium strength but oh-so-smooth hop skunk. Mild cooling pine. Modest hop spice. Well buried tropical fruits on the back end. Smooth semi dry finish reveals grapefruit and mango. Very nice indeed.

Touches of skunk and herb. More piney freshness. Can’t taste any wheat character here because of the stellar hopping and I don’t care. Semi dry finish. Very nice.

Bottle big thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy gold with a decent white head. The nose is so soft, juicy, passion fruit, mango, apricot, Five alive fruit juice, pissy hops, pine and some dank grassy action in the background. The taste is soft, juicy, very peachy indeed, mango, dank hops, grass, crisp minerals, toasty grain, bready malt and just a touch of alcohol with a crisp, clean finish. Medium body and moderate, velvety carbonation. Balance is unbelievable. Massive drinkability. Wow.

Bottle big thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy orange with a decent white head. The nose is soft, juicy, pine needles, dank hop, grapefruit, lemon parfait, creamy, creme brulee, vanilla custard, passion fruit and apricot. The taste is crisp, smooth, very juicy indeed, piney action, dankness, apricot, peppercorn, grass greeness and mild hop astringency with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Aroma is crazy good. Trillium knows how to do pale hoppy beers for sure.
