Mighty Oak was founded by John Boyce in Brentwood in Essex in 1996. It moved to the town of Maldon in January 2001, and set up in the West Station Yard industrial area, once a major local industrial area with its own railway branch line to Witham.

The brewery makes mostly ale and exports these throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent.[1] Many of the brewery's products are available to buy privately in different size plastic bladders up to keg size.

Cask at the Mighty Oak Taphouse in Maldon. Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildy dry, decent fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, thin tangy caramel runs throughout. Ripe orangey citrus. A little bright pine keeps things reasonably fresh. Traces of mandarin and ripe lemon on the semi dry finish. A grower this one, started a little sweet but ultimately delivered balance.

Cask at the Mighty Oak Taphouse in Maldon. Almost clear gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Slight grain in the malts, nothing untoward, a smidge of honeyish sweetness. Light and mildly tangy citrus hops, mildly ripe mandarin and orange. Touch of ripeish lemon on the semi dry finish. Tidy.

Bright clear deep amber - red beer with a small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine carbonation coming through on the back end. Smooth malts, a mild creamy sweetness and a clear and pleasing toffee caramel. Soft but fairly rich ripe generic fruits on the back end along with a little floral ripe fruits. All comes together very well indeed.

Bright clear gold beer, bubbly pale cream colour head, very short lived. Palate is light, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Light smooth malts, a nice light creamy sweetness. A robustness to this pale malt that's hard to describe, just a little richer than the norm it seems. Crisp piney hops into very light but bright hop fruits. Citrus and something vaguely berry like. Light crisp finish. A really bright and clean golden ale this one and very refreshing.

Cask at the Taphouse in Maldon. Pretty much a clear paleish gold beer, small bubbly white head. Light smooth palate, decent fine carbonation. Smooth pale malts, quite a forward sweetness. Light and sweetish pine and a mild floral elderflower. Mild ripe citrus, mildly tang to it as well. Light finish. Another layered and pretty drinkalble cask affair from MO.

29/9/2023. Cask at The Lord Nelson, Ipswich. Pours ultra clear bright copper amber with a small frothy off-white head. Great looking beer. Aroma is malty, toffee, biscuit, fruity, bready, berries, yeast. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium to full body, smooth, soft carbonation. Good example of a strong English Ale.
