Description
Mighty Oak Brewing Company was founded by John Boyce in Brentwood in Essex in 1995 with brewing commencing in 1996. It moved to the town of Maldon in January 2001, and set up in the West Station Yard industrial area, once a major local industrial area with its own railway branch line to Witham.
The brewery makes mostly ale and exports these throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent. Many of the brewery's products are available to buy privately in different size plastic bladders up to keg size.

Monday 27th May 2024, Shrewsbury Beer Share in Chez Sophie, five guys drinking beer and talking bollox. Brought along by me, 500ml bottle: BB November 2024. Clean and clear golden body, snow white head. Nothing to do with Christmas going on, but it's a pleasant enough citrus flavoured brew I suppose.

Bottle from Russell & Newnes, Aldeburgh. Clear golden with a light carbonation and a bubbly-frothy head. A pleasant in the palate bottle conditioned pale ale with citrus notes in both aroma and taste. Hints of breadiness.

Bottle from Russell & Newnes, Aldeburgh. Clear mahogany coloured with a small head. Not particularly stated as a stout, there's port-like character in here and there's a small sweetness attached to the brew, nevertheless it's a decent easy dark ale.

Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, mildly dry and has a decent fine minerally crispness. Semi dry pale malts, reasonably sweet. Light piney hops seamlessly integrated with slightly ripe orange and a mild floral orange. Trace of mandarin and a very mild spice on the airy finish. Tidy and clean but lacking a little of the Mighty Oak pizzaz, just feels a little flat overall.

Pretty much an opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, smooth and semi dry, late emerging fine minerally carbonation. Smooth dark malts, light in body. A little dark malt cream. Good smooth coffee, never bitter or roasty. Mild plummy fruits. There is just a touch of chocolate malt, set a fair way back. A light crispy finish. Nice session stout. Light and crisp but properly flavoursome.

Bright clear gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and mildly dry, good fine minerally crispness. Light clean pale malts, a soft light sweetness imparted. Crisp pine. Very modest citric hop. Crisp finish. Bright clean gold and would be cracking fayre on a hot day. However, clean and bright as it is, some more of something would be good. More hops would be my choice.

Cask at the Mighty Oak Taphouse in Maldon. Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildy dry, decent fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, thin tangy caramel runs throughout. Ripe orangey citrus. A little bright pine keeps things reasonably fresh. Traces of mandarin and ripe lemon on the semi dry finish. A grower this one, started a little sweet but ultimately delivered balance.
