17/1/2025. Cask the The Ale House, Colchester. Pours slightly hazy but clearing golden orange with a small bubbly/frothy pure white head. Aroma is malty, hoppy, floral, citrus. Medium sweetness, moderate developing bitterness. Body was what you'd expect of a 3.9% golden. It was fine.

Cask at The Nelson pre Ipswich v Sheffield Wednesday. Aroma of grass, lemon, citrus and hints of apple. Very smooth and drinkable. Decent citrus and hops on the taste. Enjoyed this.

11th beer of the St Albans bus replacement crawl. The look of the beer is more copper than amber. Aroma is fruity, berry and malty. Nice bitter finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear brown with a thin beige head. Light chocolate, roast and nuts on the nose. Taste adds a little dark fruit. Thin finish. Probably better on cask.

Bottle at home. A lively pour and a very pale colour in the glass. A really crisp and clean taste that is akin to a lager. Very pleasant.

Bottle at home and I overchilled it. There's a lot going on for a low abv with well balanced malt and hops to give a great mouthfeel. I like it!

Bottle at home from the Beer Shop Hitchin. Really rich malt and a gorgeous mouthfeel. Again at a perfect temperature and just a really good beer. I do question whether it is a full stout... but it's a lovely beer.

Bottle as I was waiting for the in-laws to arrive after a long day of driving children around. The name still had connections, well to me at least, with Robert Maxwell, but the quality of this beer soon took my mind in a more positive direction. A classic and flavoursome beer with malt and bitter hops all in a low abv. Just a good bitter.
