Description
First brewed in Summer 2008. Beers under the badge "Chideock Brewery", but coming from the same source were seen in May 2012. Brewery location North End Farm, Venn Lane, North Chideok. By 2014 the brewery had ceased brewing on its own equipment while seeking new premises. In the meantime it is believed that some beers are being brewed on an occasional basis at Sherfield Village brewery. In 2016 brewing recommenced at a new location in Devon. Brewing ceased again during 2020 with production moving back to Sherfield Village.

Cask at the Black Heart - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy cap that leaves a bitchin’ lacing. Ripe and tangy citrus hop aroma, some orange and tangerine. Light to medium sweet flavor with further tangy and citrusy hops, some basic pale malts, pine needles. Medium bodied with soft to fine carbonation. Sweet finish with some bitter hay and orange rind, with a bit more tangy citrus. This beer does little for me.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 02/03/13. Lightly hazed blonde with a thin white head. Nose is pale malt, grain, lemon, spice, touch of veg. Taste comprises citrus fruits, lemon, pale malts, grass, touch of spice. Medium bodied with fine carbonation with some light bitter notes in the finish. Ok drinkable stuff but not something I’ll be rushing back to!

Deep red - amber beer. Short lived pale tan head. Smooth but pretty dry palate. Roasty dark malt and sweet blackcurrant. Sounds great but it’s not! The sweetness is very artificial tasting and clashes horribly with the roast malt. Completing the disaster is a very dry finish and a horrible saccharine aftertaste. Smoke and coffee as well. Grim!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a murky brown with a thin tan broken head and some broken lace. The aroma is smokey with a little rich fruit. The flavour is rich, malty with some mild citrus fruit and of course a little smoke. A very drinkable and easy going beer.
