Cask, 4.2% at the brewpub. Almost clear golden colour. Mildly hoppy flavour. Nice and aromatic. Good citric finish. Subtle but refreshing.

Cask, 3.6% at the brewpub. Almost clear amber colour. Small creamy white head. Mildly nutty flavour, creamy, tiny hint of smoke. Also a bit of hay in the finish. Mild and well-rounded.

Cloudy dark brown beer. Light tan head. Semi dry palate. Sourish malt with a little citrus zest that dies away quickly leaving the malt which then gets a little sweeter. A hint of orange in the finish. Suppossed to have cinnamon and mixed spice - coulda fooled me!

Cask at NWAF, Manchester 21.01.11 Pours black with light beige bubbly head. This is roasty with good fruitiness, loads of dark sticky fruits in particular. There are chocolatey hints shining through, it is nicely bitter and drinks exceedingly well for the strength. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask at NWAF, 2011. In the programme this is down as ’Superior Damson Stout’ with a lower ABV (8.2%). However I’m going by what was printed on the barrel. Black pour with a beige head. Nuts, vanilla, damsons and plummy aromas. Crisp fruity flavours. Raisins, figs, dark fruit, dates, some coffee and a subtle hint of damsons. Dark fruits and malts in the finish. Tasty.

Cask at NWAF, 2011. Black with a beige head. Dark roast coffee aromas with a bit of smoke and dark chocolate. Smoky, woody flavours with coffee and chocolate. Easy going brew, quite smooth. Dry, malty finish. Not bad.

Cask (handpump) @ NWAF 10, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.Clear dark red amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark roasted, mild coffee, dusty, cacao. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100122]

Cask. Pours dark brown with an orange hue and a small rough off-white head. Hard roasted malt in the nose, some coffee and cocoa as well. Light body, almost watery, roasted malt, accents of cocoa and nuts. No real bitterness but there’s a slight underlying tartness. 220110

330ml Bottle (8%) - Gold/amber with a white head. Hoppy aroma with notes of pineapple and grapefruit. Hoppy taste with pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of aniseed. Enjoyable.
