Description
Residents of Boston’s North Shore were first introduced to Ipswich Ale during the spring of 1991. With over 30 years of history behind it, Ipswich Ale has been in existence longer than nearly every other craft brewer in New England. Since that time, the Ipswich Ale portfolio of brands have developed into a tradition shared by not only the residents of eastern Massachusetts, but across New England.

Took over production for Newburyport Brewing in 2019, before both breweries were acquired by Huntwicke Capital Group later that year.

Began a partnership with RiverWalk Brewing in late 2023, moving the bulk of production to RiverWalk's facilities, while leaving a small pilot system in Ipswich for small batch and experimental brews.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was black with a half finger off white foamy head that quickly dies into the beer with some spider web lacing.
The smell had a toasted oatmeal up front with some light dark chocolate hanging around over some light roasted coffee bean.
The taste had a thick roastiness over some coffee bean and then a slight oatmeal come out.
On the palate, this sat right at a medium in body. There was a subdued carbonation running over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good oatmeal stout to come back to if I could.

12 oz. bottle, slightly hazy gold with decent amount of suds. The aroma is a hearty amount of citrus fruits. Mango, grapefruit and hints of pine.

Flavor starts with the juicy fruits, tangerine, citrus pith supported by plenty of bread and caramel malts. The finish shows a hint of pine however, still mostly juicy. Bitterness lingers for a good while after the swallow. This is well above average and anybody local should try this. I will be grabbing another six pack. Delightful.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. White head with excellent retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Tropical fruit and resin aromas. Dry with rapefruit upfront turning to caramel in the middle before going back to grapefruit pith for the lasting finish.

Bottle from BottleSelect.com. Pours hazy amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is sort of lightly spiced light stone fruit. Near med body. Flavor is spice and some sort of citrus. Meh. It’s a little gluey in flavor. Maybe even in texture. Finishes a little bit peppery/spicy.

Gravicask, American Bar at GBBF 2013. Deep, dark brown body. Diminishing light brown head. Inviting aroma of vanilla, bread, and cocoa powder. Vanilla chocolate taste joined by oats followed by a semi-dry, roasted malty ending. Fine bodied. One of my best American beers at the festival (London Olympia 14.08.2013).
