This pours a hazy, nah, more of a cloudy rust colour with a nice 2 finger head of foam.
The smell sure does have a strong presence of bourbon but I also get a slight nose of citrus but I had to really sniff a lot to get it.
The taste is THE BOURBON. Sorry for shouting but that initial sip screamed bourbon and I had to reflect that in my review. ;^) Btw, I *do* like bourbon so no problems yet.
There are more flavours here...some good vanilla and toffee, some fruitiness, a slight tartness mid palate, and the finish has a nice bitterish kick to it. Nice. And there's definitely some warming here after the swallow so the drinkability suffers somewhat.
The mouthfeel initially feels like it's on the thick side(very silky) but overall, I'd call it medium. Good stuff! Btw, the head retention is first class as there's still about a 1" solid layer and I'm down to the last 1/3rd of my glass.
Ok, I've had a few barrel aged brews before. Some I liked, some I didn't. This one tasted different enough to keep me interested for the entire session and I take my hat off, yet again, for this small Colorado brewery. Well done Twisted Pine! I'd buy it again.

This one pours from 22oz bottle almost a pitch black with an ample head of foam that shrinks to a fine layer with some lacing.
The smell is of sweet malt with some hop nose.
The taste has some roastiness to it and some semi sweet chocolate notes up front that smooths out and ends up a bit on the bitter side in the finish. A pretty noncomplex stout that is easy drinking but lacks real character...at least for me.
Bottom line: Nothing really bad about this brew but there's not a whole lot going on. I'm glad I tried it but it's just not interesting enough to warrant another try.

Poured from 22oz bottle a clear amber gold with a smallish head of foam that pretty much maintains its size for the entire session.
Btw, they have a year and month bottled on the label but nothing was notched.
The smell is on the subtle side with faint whiffs of grassy and citrusy hops.
The taste is really grassy and it has some good citrus flavour as well..mainly lemon, with a really faint malt presence but... I *like* what the hops are doing in this IPA and it's making for some really good drinkability so being weak in the malt isn't going to hurt my review of this American IPA at all. Good stuff!
Bottom line: A nice American IPA from a small brewery in Boulder Colorado. Give it a chance if you find some.
